HDI engine fault codes - KWP2000? - jackmiller30 - 31-03-2013 Can engine fault codes be detected with a KWP2000? I was planning to remap a HDI I have just brought but idle is very lump giving quite a erratic vibration (RPM Seems quite stable) and I want to see if there is a injector fault code. Sorry if this has already been covered - I did look! Jack RE: HDI engine fault codes - KWP2000? - cully - 31-03-2013 no kwp2000 is for remapping it uses a different protocol than the diagnostics you need and elm327 which is a generic code reader or a specific reader for your car like PP2000 RE: HDI engine fault codes - KWP2000? - jackmiller30 - 31-03-2013 Okay thanks, ill order the ELM327 and see if it brings up any codes. RE: HDI engine fault codes - KWP2000? - cully - 31-03-2013 people have had problems with the chinese elms connecting to the hdi i know mine was very tempremental RE: HDI engine fault codes - KWP2000? - Oil-burner - 31-03-2013 ^^^ both of mine have been fine, cabled and bluetooth so I guess its pot luck with them. If you have the funds tho I would strongly suggest you get pp2000 instead tho. RE: HDI engine fault codes - KWP2000? - jackmiller30 - 31-03-2013 Cheers guys, ill try the cheap one first as its only £9 on eBay. Has any one else heard of this erratic idol? Seems to be vibration related rather than rpm as the rev counter seems to be very stable. RE: HDI engine fault codes - KWP2000? - Poodle - 31-03-2013 Does sound like it could be dodgy injectors. Try doing a leak-off test, fairly sure there's a guide on here somewhere, probably written by Cully. |
