What sort of difference Does a ground pin make? I've already removed the little washer and turned the pin. Made noticeable gain. Am I right in thinking a ground pin allows more fuel on boost without the need for so much adjustment on the max fuel screw?

Nail on the head mate, puts more fuel in on boost rather than constantly more fuel like the max fuel screw

Make sure you get a 'mirror' finish on it though, buff it up high! If there is rough surface then it will grind the pin down slowly, meaning new pin required/new pump top and you'll slowly get an increased amount of fuel off boost.
