DERV thoughts - cpikey316_ - 25-03-2013

People in work pestering me about cycling to work! No! I want a VEGmobile!

Now, im a fussy boy, was looking for 406 executives (heated leather, digital climate control) but there arent any in the important 1.9TD variant that means I can use Veg in them.

Can anyone suggest another car, of similar 306/406 size, that will have fancy stuff and a bosch pump so I can commute to Wales doing 45mpg on £1 a litre veg oil, rather than 35mpg on £1.40 a litre petrol!

Similar size to a 306/406.. that has an engine enabling you to run veg... Hmm.. sounds like you need a 306 with a 1.9 DT lump mate lmao

Thought of that, but I want Saab comforts!

Climate control (inc air con that works!!) is a must for a big fat sweaty man like me!
I also like leather and will have nippers soon, so needs to be easily cleanable!

My first car was a 306 XRDT, had a lucas pump though, such an easy car to service, didnt even need to jack it up!!

RE: DERV thoughts - Midnightclub - 25-03-2013

325tds? think they've got a bosch pump and will have the usual bimmer creature comforts

RE: DERV thoughts - 4WayDiablo - 25-03-2013

Land rover discos had them lol or a vitara? Haha
I think some of the 2.1's ran a Bosch suitable for veg too?

Cant find a 2.1 either! all the 406's I can find are HDi!

406OC seems to imply that a 2.1 would need a pump change, but I only read that bit before I had a little strop and stopped reading!!

RE: DERV thoughts - Arron - 25-03-2013

citroen xantia!!!!

What would the equivalent model to an executive be? I.e. with heated leather, digital climate control etc

RE: DERV thoughts - ozonehostile - 25-03-2013

They do for running on veg as they have a Lucas pump. Then you'll need a pre 1997 ECU and still have to deal with a wonkey speedo....

How about a 605 2.5TD/Croma 2.5TD/? Bosch pumped, van engined cars FTW!!!

RE: DERV thoughts - puglove - 25-03-2013

surly it would be easy to upgrade the interior of a lesser spec'd 406 to an exsecutive spec with little work?

RE: DERV thoughts - cpikey316_ - 25-03-2013

Depends if wiring loom for heated electric seats and climate gubbins is present.

Extra wiring is there on the 306! But might not be, could check 406oc I guess

Can only find a 605 2.1 on ebay, and its in manchester Sad

RE: DERV thoughts - Danny2009 - 25-03-2013

I had a 405 executive full black heated leather with Bosch for sale but sold it last month Sod's law!

Er.... About that!

No looms present results in a pain in the arse Angry

RE: DERV thoughts - puglove - 25-03-2013

Ahh not like a 306 then where the loom is there for everything then? it must be harder work for them producing more than one loom!! bloody peugeot

RE: DERV thoughts - ozonehostile - 25-03-2013

405 has the plugs for everything

RE: DERV thoughts - puglove - 25-03-2013

Theres the answer then ^^^

RE: DERV thoughts - ozonehostile - 25-03-2013

the 405 estates are the ones everyone wants, therefore the saloons go for peanuts, seen minters with tax and test going for less than £300, if you look at the glx spec cars they usually have a bosch pump, leccy windows, looms for heated seats, cruise control etc Smile

RE: DERV thoughts - cpikey316_ - 25-03-2013

No climate control though? How reliable is the air con in the 405?

RE: DERV thoughts - ozonehostile - 25-03-2013

the air con seems to be more robust than on 306's, all my 405s so far have had working air con Smile

RE: DERV thoughts - Marcus1991 - 25-03-2013

I've got a 306 with half leather heated seats! Smile

RE: DERV thoughts - Oil-burner - 25-03-2013

The old 2.1tds came in exec spec
605s came in exec
405s came in exec

There was a nice 605 exec for pennies on gumtree not all that long ago

Different looms for rear elec windows, no looms for seats, different plugs/wire colours for the same part, almost nowhere to run wires through the bulkhead....

Fun fun fun... Confused

RE: DERV thoughts - Oil-burner - 25-03-2013

Also I believe the citroen equivalent of "executive" was "exclusive"

RE: DERV thoughts - cpikey316_ - 27-03-2013

SO far!

405/406 executive
605
Xantia exclusive
BMW 325 tds

Any other german repmobiles come with a bosch pump? Mercs, audis?

RE: DERV thoughts - 306Puggy - 27-03-2013

Mercedes 300d.

RE: DERV thoughts - Piggy - 27-03-2013

there was an audi v6 diesel with mechanical bosch injections...cant remember which though.

and they are rare but there IS a 2.1 in the XM and 406 which had a bosch pump.

XMs mega ugly but big spec and super comfy

RE: DERV thoughts - sweeney1987 - 27-03-2013

ya coould buy a 2.2 saab 93 with the EPIC VP44 Bosch pump.......

have you thought of vagcrap? audi 1.9tdis up to ~00 with the non pd engine run veg ok, being tdi though may have ring gumming issues
old mercs are popular in veg community too
and youre not gonna see 30mpg in a 325tds, plus need to modify lift pump
