Heyy guys, just a quick one too see what people have used and if anyones had a leaking manifold
As you know ive got adaptor plates but only sealed with high temp silicone, whoch to my belief has given up as its coaling from behind block, cant quite see which bit from but can definitly see underneath on part of the adaptor where its leaking, now its givin a noise like a screatch squeel over 3.5k basically on full boost, either that or the turbo has snuffed it,
But turbo can still hit 30 psi when floored into carpet but then backs off a tad almost like wastegate creep or boost leak but both of these can be ruled out so my only thought is manifold leaks got worse
It did have this leak on last dyno as could see smoke bellow out of bulkhead lol
Just wondering what people recommend, ive got some gasket material off ebay just wondering what else to use

Remove exhaust, revel in chronic boost noises. That's what I did
You can get gasket stuffs off eBay, cut your own gasket?

Haha i do want side exit from bumper wonder what that would be like
and yess ive got that so gonna strip it back and rebuild it this weekend, i also have a spare turbo in case it is shot but i cant get big forearms down to check impellor :S

sounds like your bearings in turbo are going with the screaching. Best bet is exhaust putty paste couple of quid and youve got enough for if ever it goes again. Ideally it needs a metal gasket.

Iv got a proper metal manifold gasket ready to go on, wouldnt ave thought it was bearrings but if it is ive got a spare cartridge of a TD04 ready to clock n go on
pretty sure its the leak tho

The last turbo I had that screeched was the old T25 that decided to trim itself lol

How long did it last for as this been same for a few months now, and has sort of quietened down since putting less preload on the lda and giving more fuel lol and these are a 360 bearring arnt they?

Couldnt really tell you tbh it depends if its showing signs of leaking oil or not. I changed mine within a week but I soon stopped taking it to a certain boost level. This was mine after a week

obviously the t25 is and older turbo than a tdo4 luckily mine was leaking in the hotside and not the cold side you may be able to get your head in the wheel arch and check condition of the fins. But for sake of a few hours can check the turbo and sort the potential gasket leaks all in one go

Probly abit off topic but
Ive been looking in to the gaskets carnt you buy the exat gaskets for the td04 and the the exat gaskets for the k14 (the manifold/exhaust elbow im useing) wont they be best for sealing them up insted of useing sealent? Or wouldnt that work?
Like these gasket (bit exspensive like but sure could find them cheaper)

Yeah gona check it this weekend and see as it seems to boost really well, and it is a bit smokey on startup even with new glow plugs but it has a missfire when cold so think an injector is sticking tbh

It mite be worth getting the one chris put up and then making the k14/adaptor one yourself but for the price of that sheet i posted theres enough to make them all for a tena

Been looking for gaskets all day, we not got a subaru dealer in chesterfield or i carnt find it lol but got scobby clinc they had the genuine gasket in stock so been to get them

There triple layer gaskets so should be better than useing paste.
Went to peugeot to see if they has gasket for manifold and elbow but apparently they never had a gasket for them just bolted together as they are so its either paste them or get some of the gasket stuff that cj got.....

Woooohoooo fixed the bastard!! And drilled and tapped and helicoiled the head so have all manifold bolts in place and its immense!!
That gasket sheet is a fucker to cut btw and took the piss drilling it as it falls apart but its held and we got chronic boost again!!

Having that problem right now trying to cut through the stuff. Did you use just that or sealant too?
Just realised I have to drill/notch the manifold slightly, need to make some smaller bolts, can see why the plates are threaded now.

You dont have to drill notch the manifold mate, well you can but the way i did it was put the boot from the turbo into the plate and chop the bolt flush with the plate so its flat for the manifold to bolt on buddy,
I used some industrial sealant ma mate had in the garage but only a slither as the gasket should work well

That's what we're going to do, bolts will be tiny though but I guess as long as all the thread is holding it's ok.
We're going to use sealant with the gasket but I agree that stuff is a bastard to get through. Also need some different circlip pliers as just tried the ones I bought this morning and they started bending.
