Tinting Film on Lights - WiNgNuTz - 22-02-2013

Just wondering, as i've got some 50% window tinting film knocking about, wondered if i could use that on the LED lights i bought, instead of tint spray. What do we think people?

Not too sure it'll be very easy to apply it to curved glass, this is the thought.

try it. you can always peel it off. I wouldnt be putting it on headlights and foglights though!

i tinted my phase 3 fogs with yellow film just the other day, on the car and looks sweet imo

Yeh yellow lamin x on the fogs looks win. You can get some etech light tint spray off ebay for like £6 a can. Was enough to do a pair of hatch rear lights to a legal level!

Yellow fogs are win!

Anyway on topic....try it because the worst is, you dont like it and have to peel it off.

What the hell is tom doing in that last pic? lol

I had enough film to make 4 patches big enough to do a cluster, but the first one I tried, really struggled to get it to lay flat. Ended up with creases all over the place!

Any tips?

RE: Tinting Film on Lights - Eeyore - 24-02-2013

Use a heatgun and then its stretchier. If you have bubbles use a scalpal or craft knife to make a small cut about 2mm in the bubble. Then you can push all the hair out through the hole and it isnt noticeable afterwards!

oh and of course work from the centre out!

After the mot ill be putting smoked lamin x on the lights of the coupe, front rear and fogs

RE: Tinting Film on Lights - aaron_one - 24-02-2013

Even if you don't have a heat gun use a hair drier, that's what i did and it works just as good! I was thinking about tinting the speedo plastic window yellow with the film to match the fogs, a bit of subtle and probably unnoticable colour coding which no one but me would notice!

Re: Tinting Film on Lights - WiNgNuTz - 24-02-2013

Yeah, haven't got a heat gun, but the missus has got a hairdryer, so I'll probably just use that! lol thanks for the tips guys, will try again later.
