Noticable gain - wiggy - 19-02-2013

Does anyone kno if id see a noticeable gain with a str8 through exhaust on a hdi? N any other small mods I can do to see a gain? Apart from a map?

You'll almost definitely see a gain in spool time and response, maybe a slight increase in top end power too. Most noticeable though will be the faster spoolz

Not a lot really they only really amplify increases from the likes of maps

But the basic ones
Induction(be it panel or cone)
Exhaust (free flowing)
Egr delete

RE: Noticable gain - wiggy - 19-02-2013

How do I go about gettin rid of egr?

RE: Noticable gain - 4WayDiablo - 19-02-2013

Unplug the blue plug over by the brake servo pretty much does the job.
Proper way is to black it with a little plate you can pick up on the bay

RE: Noticable gain - Eeyore - 19-02-2013

you can just unplug it. Look for a guide somewhere. Remaps will obviously make the most difference!

How much am.i lookin at for a map?

RE: Noticable gain - Poodle - 19-02-2013

Exhaust makes a big difference to the drive on a stage 1, won't notice much difference without a map though. I shouldn't bother with any changes to your induction, the standard system is pretty capable and the other options all seem to have a tendency to munch through mafs.

Map will set you back ~£120, depends who you go to. My Whippy and HDi Tuning (pro_steve) come highly recommended, also TB205.

IMO intake is a waste of money on a HDi, they can upset sensors and the flow of a standard OEM paper filter is just as efficient!

Get the map on ~ £100
Decat pipe ~ £50 (brand new) plus fitting if required £40-60

These are the basic things you should start with, but always combine them with a good service and high quality (if not OEM) filters and fluids.

Then go from there...

Only thing i would have to add to that list is a backbox to midbox conversion, made a noticeable difference on mine. Plus, for the sake of a tenner for a scrapyard mid-section and a little time with a grinder and welder, you may as well lol.

pro-steve remaps for £75 just need the tools to upload to the ECU
