beam condition off car - rd070707 - 06-02-2013

Just need some advice, know nothing about beams. But how do i check if the bearings etc are good in a rear beam when its not on a car?

It's a bit harder to see really, as without the weight of the car there won't be any camber.

Pull the trailing arms of is pretty much the only,

unless its uber f*cked then the trailing arm will have loads of play that you'll be able to feel

See that's what I thought :/ don't want to buy another beam with dead bearings

I've attached a pic of the axle. If anyone has any time to point out on the pic what parts I check would be great

Make sure where the trailing arm goes into the beam with the seal, It's the same gap all the way around, at least this generally gives a good idea that's it is OK or at least rebuild-able

cheers mate i think i know what you mean. so there should be no movement in the trailing arms at all?

You'll be lucky to find any off the car as it all moves around too much

Jump up and down on it, its its f*cked, you'll see stuff moving that shouldnt. Thats not a sure fire way though, if you need to know for sure take the trailing arms off.
