6 oil reccomendations - Midnightclub - 04-02-2013 As title guys, lookin at changing the oil on the 6 soon as its overdue, want something fully synth, any suggestions or reccomendations appreciated. Cheers RE: 6 oil reccomendations - Niall - 04-02-2013 Personally, I love the original total 7000 (think that's the one) The car runs noticeably different on it, it's fairly cheap and Peugeot must of recommended it for a reason! RE: 6 oil reccomendations - Midnightclub - 04-02-2013 Ahh yes.. Yeah, I've heard its not too badly priced even from pug directly! Although i have a friend who works for pug.. Wonder if he can get me some discount.. Edit: I've found my current oil gets quite hot quite quickly when on a rag.. like 125 degrees RE: 6 oil reccomendations - Niall - 04-02-2013 Well mine will sit at 90 all day long unless I really rag it in which case it may creep upto about 100. Highest its ever been was 130 but in all fairness, I did spend a few minutes off the clock......I love living in a private road RE: 6 oil reccomendations - Midnightclub - 04-02-2013 Nice haha, I'll have to price some up.. Although I've got the hdis oil to change first, fun times RE: 6 oil reccomendations - Curt - 04-02-2013 Slippery one RE: 6 oil reccomendations - Midnightclub - 04-02-2013 I dunno, those VAG boys have been cleaning there inlets with sand.. i thought maybe some cement would do the sump some good? 6 oil reccomendations - vlj - 04-02-2013 (04-02-2013, 02:18 PM)Niall Wrote: Well mine will sit at 90 all day long unless I really rag it in which case it may creep upto about 100. If you mean off the speedo clock, how the f*ck did you get there in your road? It's tiny! RE: 6 oil reccomendations - Niall - 04-02-2013 Clearly vaughn you havent seen the 6 mile long straight that runs out from the turning area? RE: 6 oil reccomendations - Ambrosio - 06-02-2013 I'm using Valvoline High Mileage 10W40, but here is a tropical country. The oil is good, helped keep in 90 car, but I do not know what viscosity recommend. http://www.valvoline.com/products/consumer-products/motor-oil/higher-mileage-motor-oil/3 RE: 6 oil reccomendations - Ruan - 06-02-2013 Gulf Competition 10W40 - perfect for what a GTi needs, good detergents, fully ester synthetic, none of this "Fully Synthetic but actually made from mineral base stocks" crap... I can't fault it... And in honesty, changing your oil isn't going to change what it's specific heat is... I.e. how much energy it takes to increase the temperature a given amount... That's relatively uniform across most oils... GTI6s do, when tuned have a bit of a reputation for eating big end bearings, so I would always use the best oil possible, the Total 7000/9000 I don't think is adequate really, for a STOCK engine used in a STOCK manner - fine, it'll do everything you need it to, but in extremes, it won't hold up as well as other oils which are a fairly similar price. |
