heaters not hot - Icywalts - 02-02-2013

Can anyone help the heating system in the car all works, blowers, temperature etc. But over time it has slowly stopped getting quite so hot, its now barely able to warm the whole car. Suggestions as to what needs changing?

heater matrix would be the most obvious

Could be an air lock in the system, have you tried bleeding it through?

Theres a bleed point just off the heater system on the bulkhead.

I have not tried anything yet I was going to see what you guys thought and look at it later. Do the matrix's have a tendency to become less affective over time?

The matrix can get silted up over time but as said try bleeding it first.

Could also try flushing it through, with a hose, or a pressure washer if your feeling ambitious. Then bleeding it after, also would recommend the coke bottle trick to help with bleeding, makes it so much easier, have a search and you'll find it theres been a few on bleeding over the past months.

Silly idea. If your going to flush it, just use a bottle of proper flush and do what it says on the tin. Just remember, there may be crap in there but sometimes thats a good thing if you have any small holes!

You need to take out termostat when flushing.
If not flushing you can use a plastic bottle and fill it upp with coolant bleed the screws one near fuel filter and one near front window after that start engine with bottle and and lett it go for a while when you hear fan going then the coolant going round the engine.
You can do it with termostat on or off both should work, if nothing happens then the teromstat is not properly working.
Radiator could also be blocked with dirt/rust in channel.
