Coolant hoses, engine loom (if there is one as such)

RE: The 306OC support wagon! - Poodle - 16-03-2013

Loom..? Worst comes to the worst we can make one out of the wire i've got in the garage, XUDs only need like 4 wires i think lol.

RE: The 306OC support wagon! - Piggy - 16-03-2013

which coolant hoses?!

RE: The 306OC support wagon! - td_dan - 16-03-2013

i have a loom

RE: The 306OC support wagon! - Dum-Dum - 16-03-2013

the loom on the 1.9D should work.

RE: The 306OC support wagon! - Dicky - 16-03-2013

the XUD looms are the same IIRC, I can get you some coolant hoses when I buy my donor car and whatever else you need you can have if you pay for postage Big Grin

RE: The 306OC support wagon! - Poodle - 16-03-2013

This is a forum project man, the idea is to donate.

RE: The 306OC support wagon! - Dicky - 16-03-2013

I am donating, but I'm not paying to give things away

RE: The 306OC support wagon! - Poodle - 16-03-2013

Rofl

But isn't that the definition of a donation? Giving something away, often of monetary value?

Just saying anyway...

RE: The 306OC support wagon! - Puggie - 16-03-2013

Off to the scrap yard tomorrow out else you need ?

RE: The 306OC support wagon! - Niall - 16-03-2013

Dont think so. Thanks though. Ruan will be looking over it tomorrow so im sure he can confirm what else we may need.

Today was spent replacing the ball joint it failed on. Sounds simple right? Oh no! We were going to change the whole wishbone but the front bolt was stupidly tight and eventually when it did give way, the threads gave way Sad
Bought a new ball joint but the old one was riveted in. Took 3 hours with the limited tools we had to get it out and replace in the cold and wet. Still done now so will have a years ticket monday morning which means next weekend is full ahead go for the engine change Big Grin

Winning!

RE: The 306OC support wagon! - Niall - 16-03-2013

Actually i have thought of something we need which is a big ask i realise!

FMIC. Even a tiny one will do. just that we cant use the TMIC with the engine so need some cooling!

RE: The 306OC support wagon! - vlj - 16-03-2013

Do you mean tmic? You can borrow mine til mine properly goes on my car?

RE: The 306OC support wagon! - Niall - 16-03-2013

yes lol. How long can we borrow it for?

RE: The 306OC support wagon! - vlj - 16-03-2013

No longer than a couple of weeks tbh, just til you find something really - I start 2 weeks holiday on the 25th so was hoping get everything plumbed in then

RE: The 306OC support wagon! - Poodle - 17-03-2013

I'm sure we can find one at silverlake if nothing else comes up, same goes for the other little bits tbh.

RE: The 306OC support wagon! - Fooby - 17-03-2013

just lash a radiator (as in a house radiator obviously) up on the front?

Or have I missed something.

Limited tools?!

The two drills, angle grinder, blow torch and hammers we had, ontop of the standard tools such as sockets and jacks etc.
LOL

That said, i think props goes to Samass for lying under that thing near enough non stop. Team effort from everyone, but that bloke was relentless in getting it done. Well played to you sir.

RE: The 306OC support wagon! - samass - 17-03-2013

3 hours? Bitch please, try 5! f*cking thing

RE: The 306OC support wagon! - Niall - 17-03-2013

meh.. either way it was far too long!

RE: The 306OC support wagon! - samass - 17-03-2013

Damn straight! Longest ball joint change in history I reckon

RE: The 306OC support wagon! - Jonny81191 - 17-03-2013

I found an awesome way to get stuck balljoints out, only works when the front bumper is off though.

After you've moved the joint a bit with a crowbar, get an old torsion bar and a BFO tapping stick and smash the torsion bar inbetween the balljoint and hub, soon popped it out, and not as damaging as you might think if you're careful Big Grin

RE: The 306OC support wagon! - samass - 17-03-2013

Nah, getting it out the hub wasn't the issue. Getting it out the wishbone was. Rivets ftl.

RE: The 306OC support wagon! - Jonny81191 - 17-03-2013

Ah I see. Never encountered riveted ones, but rounded torx heads must be almost as bad!

RE: The 306OC support wagon! - ginge191 - 17-03-2013

Just FYI; I'm planning on changing my engine in the next 3 weeks or so, and should have a few spares (pipes, loom) etc you could have..

RE: The 306OC support wagon! - Niall - 17-03-2013

Thanks Ginge. May well take you up on that Smile

RE: The 306OC support wagon! - sweeney1987 - 04-04-2013

any progress since on this?
must say it looks epic!

RE: The 306OC support wagon! - Scott - 04-04-2013

Not especially at the moment mate, I'm away in Hong Kong at the moment and the past few weeks have been very hectic. Though Kim went over to mine during the week and sent me a photo asking "Is it supposed to be this low?" and it looks like the rear beam may have given up the ghost. I'll see if she can take a proper photo when she's next at mine.

Not being funny but having an engine, an extremely heavy set of wheels, all that other crap etc can't be helping it. When I drove alongside you after nialls it was sitting properly low.

Right height if you ask me..
