Peugeot 306 1.9 dturbo glow plugs.

Auto x?! Maybe

http://autx.co.uk/

RE: Paul's estate mk2 - Alan_M - 08-11-2015

How do these work? I mean, do they just come on when you start the car or do they only come on when the temperature gets below a certain point?

RE: Paul's estate mk2 - Paul_13 - 08-11-2015

It come on earlier as the heaters were blowing hot from cold pretty quick

RE: Paul's estate mk2 - cully - 08-11-2015

they assist in getting the car up to running temp making it more fuel efficiant apparently
i believe they cut out under low rpm to stop large loading on the engine or the coolant temp gets above 68c

RE: Paul's estate mk2 - Josh_Quant - 08-11-2015

That reminds need to check mine when I change the thermostat

How many was working on yours?

RE: Paul's estate mk2 - Paul_13 - 08-11-2015

All the glow plugs looked very sorry for themselves

RE: Paul's estate mk2 - Paul_13 - 10-11-2015

Hmm think my turbo is on the way out.

Lots of blue smoke on start up and lots of oil coming out the compressor housing when I looked under neath :/

Might give the ihi rfh4 a go or stick a gt2052s on, or rfh5

RE: Paul's estate mk2 - Paul_13 - 12-12-2015

Just got to Wales and the coolant light was on on the way here and on again

It's drank 3 litres

RE: Paul's estate mk2 - Niall - 12-12-2015

What is it with you and destroying cars lol

RE: Paul's estate mk2 - Paul_13 - 12-12-2015

Don't start...
Too dark to go and look, I'm in Newport miles away from home.

Could be one of the following

-HG failure although the coolant system isn't pressurising
-rear water block seal failed /block cracked
-water pump seal gone /spindle seal gone
-split hose
- matrix

RE: Paul's estate mk2 - Toms306 - 12-12-2015

One of your coolant heater plugs loose maybe?

Can't be matrix, you'd notice 3 litres of coolant on the floor lol. Very unlikely to be HG failure on a HDi. Though knowing your luck it's probably a cracked block or something major lol.

RE: Paul's estate mk2 - Paul_13 - 13-12-2015

Heater plugs are tight but I'll look.

Bit f*cked, I'm in Newport with no tools

Just going to fill it with water and hope it's nothing serious

RE: Paul's estate mk2 - tigerstyle - 13-12-2015

There is a friendly chap in Penarth who knows 306s well.
Now does mx5s but not exclusivley, if you could make it to his tomorrow maybe for a diagnosis/tools?

Google Penarth mx5

RE: Paul's estate mk2 - Paul_13 - 13-12-2015

Thanks for the recommendation, we're travelling home in a second.

RE: Paul's estate mk2 - Niall - 13-12-2015

If you cn get a good look down the back (not easy i know) see if any of the core plugs are leaking? If so you could pikey seal them just for the drive home or if you're really lucky to find a auto factors open today, may get one off the shelf. There 52mm iirc.

RE: Paul's estate mk2 - welshpug - 13-12-2015

aye!

doh! I'd be leaving the cap on the furst click and topping up frequently, put it undee pressure and itll piss out then any air that gets in expands even more than coolant forcing whats left out.

RE: Paul's estate mk2 - Paul_13 - 13-12-2015

Turns out that's a coincidental door leak.
Shouldn't be trying to diagnose problems with a fuzzy head

There's a tiny little hole in the top of that

Gota load of these left over from the 205 gti 6 conversion years ago luckily

Not even that old which is the scary thing

RE: Paul's estate mk2 - Paul_13 - 13-12-2015

Just got to sort out the door leak now.

So f*cking relieved it wasn't the matrix.

I was thinking it doesn't smell like coolant and it's not warm

RE: Paul's estate mk2 - Toms306 - 13-12-2015

Your footwell rubbish papers would be tainted pink if it was coolant also. At least it was an easy fix!

RE: Paul's estate mk2 - Paul_13 - 26-12-2015

Just about to change the injectors to 076, see if the 3k power dip disappears and the tapping!

RE: Paul's estate mk2 - Paul_13 - 26-12-2015

Number 2 injector washer would not come out for shit.
I've just put the new injector on it and it's not leaked. Only problem now, the leak offs are leaking

RE: Paul's estate mk2 - Paul_13 - 26-12-2015

Goes like stink now. Old injectors Murray of been completely knackered
