I would have said 190's before I bought one, but now I'm surprised how many you see about, I see at least 1 or 2 a week, not bad for a car that went out of production over 2 decades ago and never sold in huge numbers because you could have a Sierra XR4x4 2.9 or Cavalier SRI 130 for less than the price of a poverty spec 1.8 manual with steelies and keep fit windows

There's a bloke on the 190 forum who works round the corner from me, I pass his signal red 1.8 every day. There's often a 2.3-16 parked in a drive near my local, and I often pass a rough looking white diesel on the way to Asda. When I'm in Cornwall I see loads!

Sat in Chippy yesterday having lunch, few usual nice cars pass, porsches mega common, always at least a ferrari, yesterday it was a 355.
Then my wife goes, "whats THAT!?"
By the time I look up I only see the back of it.
I had to admit I had never seen one before....so I googled it...

I had never seen a 037 road version before and the back end properly confused me! I assumed a lancia of some sort so a quick lancia 037 road version google and i got those pics and its that!

I will tell you a story on how I got into street sleepers, It involves a mk3 escort, The car was featured twice I think in fast ford some time ago.
Anyway, when I was out with my mate, we were at a 25th birthday party down town.
The local boyracers used to cruise around town. You used to see some right clips going about lol. the max power image, big bore and badass ICE.
Anyway we were in a pub that had the front row seats of every shed that came around.
We laughed at took the piss out every single car, my mate then spots a Mk3 escort popular model. He said Andy here's a piece of history, and I saw a Mk3 escort that came from the past, as it was that clean! Decked on steelies with the bit ford black centres, Proper escort popular spec. Looked proper retro cool, We took the piss out of that, saying fuckin hell man, your 20 years plus out of date man with that! He had four people in, all had base ball caps on. Which made us take the piss out of it more.
Anyway a couple of days later, I spoke to my warehouse manager, who was a ford nut about the car, we saw that sunday night.
I described to him what the car spec looked like, I said it was in good nick etc, had four lads in it with base ball caps on.
He said was it a light blue by any chance? I said yeah it was, looked like a basic old school mk3 escort tbh,
He said, Andy what ever you and philly do, don't f*cking try it on with it at the lights! I said what's the crac with it like? He said, Andy its a 450 bhp cosworth 4x4! I said f*cking hell!! He said andy, wenny ( that was the owner of the car at the time) must have been out boy racer and chav baiting.
I told my mate about it later on, He said lets not that the piss out of that again!
I learned a valuable lesson, Not to take the piss out of anything old school, and to give it a load of respect, as you don't know if its tooled up!
Plus it gave me the idea of building mine!

I'm pretty sure last time I saw it he was rocking the black plates, don't think many police are upto date with it tbh haha, probably just think 'another old escort' ooo yeah I do love a sleeper escort, used to be on eBay that was a 1.6 turbo was decked on banded steelies but looked really good, think it only went for about 500quid. Only thing that gave it away was the mahoosive intercooler hanging out the front bumper haha
