about 3 months ago I put s deposit down on a rather win set of alloys....

I've been like a kid before Christmas all week waiting for them to be delivered, and yesterday morning before Ace I popped them on in the pissing rain!
no photos of the fitting, and only the following one of then on for now!

RE: Ed's MINTY (fully-WORKING!) Ph3 Astor GTi6 - Ed Doe - 05-08-2012

Cheers guys. And actually Niall it really could do with a bleddy good clean Sad no time currently unfortunately.

I dunno if anyone can clarify how much my Speedo would have changed by with these on? I've gone from 50 profiles on cyclones (which means the Speedo over reads) to these 40 profile 17s, which I'm assuming will cause the Speedo to Under read? Dunno but basically if you look at the Speedo it looks slower which annoys me lol!

RE: Ed's MINTY (fully-WORKING!) Ph3 Astor GTi6 - Dum-Dum - 05-08-2012

Assuming your sppedo was correct on std tyres (195/55R15) then the 205/40R17 will be spot on

compared to 195/50R15 then your 3.47% difference

Check this if you want to see for yourself

RE: Ed's MINTY (fully-WORKING!) Ph3 Astor GTi6 - C.A.R. - 06-08-2012

Looks lovely mate.

If I had to criticise it (and someone has to so it may as well be me) then the wheels almost look the same dirty black colour as the car, and cars don't really work if they have wheels the same colour as the car (unless silver on silver, white on white...)

I genuinely think they'd look even better if the wheels were a brighter silver and contrasted against the car.

But I can tell you're delighted with them so I'll shut up now.

Thanks mate, I'm so please with it, I keep finding excuses to go look out the window at work; it looks so awesome Big Grin it has however been done before; technically I'm copying Scott, who had his 16"s way before me, but I did sliiightly copy a guy called Mabgti... [Image: IMAGE_190.jpg]

But given how rare the alloys are, and the fact he's now changed his alloys to 16" TD pro-race 1.2s, and he's wrapped his car in BMW Frozen Grey now, I think it's unique enough again!!

EFA lol Nah I know what you mean mate, the cyclones did nicely set the rest of the car off with the silver colour, but I love the stealth look of these alloys personally. They do have a fair bit of brake dust build-up too, which does dull the colour more...

Meh I adore it as it is so the anthracite is staying! Tongue I do however need to get the 'speedline' and 'flowformed' decals from speedline... /tart

RE: Ed's MINTY (fully-WORKING!) Ph3 Astor GTi6 - C.A.R. - 06-08-2012

And pressumably you have already invested in a tub of 'rimwax' so you can keep them pristine, on both the outer and inner faces?

I was the same when I had those Superleggera's. Should never have let them go really!

Superleggeras are the alloys I'd have to have if I didn't have these! They're porno IMO

I haven't yet invested in a tub of rimwax, but I'm on that like a tramp on chips when I get a chance! Need to give them a bloody good clean and wax to seal them; I literally threw them on the car before Ace on Saturday, so they've not really been properly sorted! Tbh the whole car needs going over with a clay bar, and then waxing. Needs a mop on the roof a bit too where the lacquer is slightly dulled, but its so minor it's really a low priority job!
