RE: Ozonehostile 's broken 106 rallye - Tom - 14-10-2013 I was gonna say! I know they say its going to snow like f*ck but already?! Im liking your plans though. Not considered going balls out on some kind of GT** ball bearing turbo? RE: Ozonehostile 's broken 106 rallye - ozonehostile - 14-10-2013 (14-10-2013, 03:42 PM)Tom Wrote: I was gonna say! I know they say its going to snow like f*ck but already?! Both those IHI turbos I picked up the other day are ball bearing :-D RE: Ozonehostile 's broken 106 rallye - ozonehostile - 02-12-2013 Not much being going on with this recently so I took it to the Xmas meet in Milton Keynes to give just for the sake of getting to drive it. Took massive overkill of tools but the rallye didn't miss a beat. 300 miles of epic bwarps and popping flames 266mm brake conversion, had to grind some of the caliper off to get them to fit but a massive improvement over the original milk bottle tops of brakes. Brakes completely fill the 14"wheels now. Also fitted braided lines while I was at it. ![]() ![]() RE: Ozonehostile 's broken 106 rallye - Piggy - 02-12-2013 awesome pic... needs to be new sig for sure!! I did 300 miles too at weekend with GT not missing a beat...even with a boot full of tools n parts in case!! what bit needed grinding off pal, I doing the nad brakes soon RE: Ozonehostile 's broken 106 rallye - ozonehostile - 02-12-2013 (02-12-2013, 12:36 PM)Piggy Wrote: awesome pic... On the 106 hub there's a curved bit that means you can't line the top carrier bolt up. Need to grind the top corner flat yoke so it clears the hub and you can bolt it on. You'll see what I mean when you do it. Just have a few cutting discs ready. Bit of getting used to required with big brakes on original servo but when you're used to them it's great RE: Ozonehostile 's broken 106 rallye - Piggy - 02-12-2013 lol...long travel?? RE: Ozonehostile 's broken 106 rallye - ozonehostile - 02-12-2013 (02-12-2013, 12:51 PM)Piggy Wrote: lol...long travel?? Yeah, the 106 servo is so small that it now feels almost unassisted. Certainly builds leg muscle now haha RE: Ozonehostile 's broken 106 rallye - ozonehostile - 02-12-2013 Another awesome picture :-) man I love this car ![]() RE: Ozonehostile 's broken 106 rallye - Piggy - 02-12-2013 prefer the one on the road moving...looks ace. Get that thing boosted!!!! RE: Ozonehostile 's broken 106 rallye - vlj - 02-12-2013 Beyond jealous of this car RE: Ozonehostile 's broken 106 rallye - ozonehostile - 02-12-2013 (02-12-2013, 03:46 PM)vlj Wrote: Beyond jealous of this car Haha thanks? RE: Ozonehostile 's only a little bit broken 106 rallye - ozonehostile - 31-12-2013 So a few things have happened since its trip to Milton Keynes, the main event being that it broke haha Few highlights: 266mm brakes and braided lines are a massive improvement over the original milk bottle tops ![]() Took it to work on a rare dry day ![]() It broke down at the petrol station ![]() So it's back to the workshop. Again. Lol ![]() It was the idle control valve that broke, the valve is a plunger on a threaded shaft with a spring to keep tension on the plunger. The thread on the shaft has somehow been damaged meaning it was stuck fully open, cue a nice 4000rpm idle lol. Since its cold and shit outside at the moment, it's locked away waiting for the new seats to be fitted, possibly a simple roll cage, rust on the sill and boot floor to be addressed, inner wings painting as surface rust treatment and maybe some new bilstein b8s Oh, and because I found it cheaper than a new idle control valve, I've got a Citroën c2 vts alloy inlet manifold and a clio 172 throttle body waiting to go on. Should see a few more horses eh :-D RE: Ozonehostile 's only a little bit broken 106 rallye - Piggy - 31-12-2013 I know that petrol station...oppo halfords? Handy open all hours place that RE: Ozonehostile 's only a little bit broken 106 rallye - ozonehostile - 31-12-2013 (31-12-2013, 02:26 PM)Piggy Wrote: I know that petrol station...oppo halfords? That's the one RE: Ozonehostile 's only a little bit broken 106 rallye - ozonehostile - 06-01-2014 Something awesome came in the post today :-D Better than Xmas haha ![]() RE: Ozonehostile 's only a little bit broken 106 rallye - Piggy - 06-01-2014 Oooo C2 vts mani... Whats that guna help with? RE: Ozonehostile 's only a little bit broken 106 rallye - ozonehostile - 06-01-2014 (06-01-2014, 06:57 PM)Piggy Wrote: Oooo C2 vts mani... Aluminium inlet manifold instead of the shitty plastic one that leaks, the plenum is twice the size and the throttle body is bigger. The inlet side of the engine on a vts is the only difference between the 125bhp engine and the 110bhp. And it's shiney RE: Ozonehostile 's only a little bit broken 106 rallye - WiNgNuTz - 06-01-2014 A little late to the party i know, but surely you can do better than that sig zakk?! How about this: ![]() You're welcome. ![]() Good work btw, love this motor, well saved. ![]() RE: Ozonehostile 's only a little bit broken 106 rallye - ozonehostile - 06-01-2014 (06-01-2014, 07:38 PM)WiNgNuTz Wrote: A little late to the party i know, but surely you can do better than that sig zakk?! Rep your way :-) RE: Ozonehostile 's only a little bit broken 106 rallye - WiNgNuTz - 06-01-2014 No worries, that looks much better! ![]() RE: Ozonehostile 's only a little bit broken 106 rallye - mr_fish - 07-01-2014 will the manifold just fit and work? or does it need to be mapped in? (#petroln00b ![]() RE: Ozonehostile 's only a little bit broken 106 rallye - ozonehostile - 07-01-2014 (07-01-2014, 09:24 AM)mr_fish Wrote: will the manifold just fit and work? or does it need to be mapped in? (#petroln00b That's what I'm yet to find out, just going to bolt it all on and see how it runs, but I guess some mapping will be required at some point to utilise the new set up. If it runs as well as it was then that's good enough for now, start looking at more shinies then to make it worth the money for mapping haha. I'm in half a mind to drop the engine out while it's having all this work done, clean up the spots of surface rust starting on the inner wings and bulkhead and just general bay tidying really :-) I'm aiming to have this at "stage 2" kind of area by Pugfest, so that's going to be ported and polished inlet (get that sorted before the manifold goes on), 743 catcams and a remap. Should see about 150bhp which is the general limit of stock management and fuelling. 7800rpm rev limit too :-P Stage 3 is where I start looking into head work, aftermarket management and fueling etc RE: Ozonehostile 's only a little bit broken 106 rallye - jammapic - 08-01-2014 Tasty little motor! Thanks man :-) Hoping to restore it back to mint condition with a bit of poke, sadly been neglected a bit by previous owners :-\ RE: Ozonehostile 's only a little bit broken 106 rallye - ozonehostile - 19-01-2014 Decided now would be a good time to start tidying up the rallye, the weather's shit and the tax is about to run out so may as well get ready for spring :-) First job, removing the old plastic inlet manifold and preparing for fitting the new aluminium setup [attachment=12896] Some comparison shots of the plastic and aluminium manifold and plenum , pretty obvious why it's an upgrade [attachment=12897] ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() And some workshop pictures. Needs less mini and more pug aha ![]() ![]() ![]() RE: Ozonehostile 's only a little bit broken 106 rallye - Tom - 19-01-2014 Oh shit someones nicked my wheels! RE: Ozonehostile 's only a little bit broken 106 rallye - ozonehostile - 20-01-2014 Some progress for anyone who cares The Citroën c2 vts throttle body is a no go on this engine as it is controlled electronically rather than by cable, so that's gone on eBay. Now for an interesting bit after some research, I'm planning to now use a clio 172 throttle body, it's slightly larger than the current j4 one, but has the useful feature of being cable operated, so should be as simple as making an adapter plate to fit the aluminium plenum stud pattern. Just need to find a decent price clio throttle body now.... Lots of research being going on in my free time, planning ahead for forging my block and raising the compression.... Some interesting differences between the j4 and jp4 engines J4 has a stronger bottom end, thicker conrods and proper gudeon pins, while Peugeot Lightened the bottom end of the jp4 for a higher rev limit, but a downside of this, press fittings on everything, so pita to upgrade separate components.... More on that in the future. Found out by checking serial numbers while it's been on the ramp that I'm running bilstein b8 shocks all round which was a pleasant surprise Some painting has being going on too, scuttle panel going satin black, plus bits like the ecu tray and wiper arms etc [attachment=12936] RE: Ozonehostile 's only a little bit broken 106 rallye - Piggy - 20-01-2014 Keep up the good work buddy... Cant wait for the ![]() RE: Ozonehostile 's only a little bit broken 106 rallye - Craigus - 20-01-2014 Looks good! Seen a 106 using 172 throttle body with the c2 manifold before. Good to know the j4 is stronger as thats whats going in my 205 lol RE: Ozonehostile 's only a little bit broken 106 rallye - ozonehostile - 20-01-2014 (20-01-2014, 10:28 AM)Craigus Wrote: Looks good! Some people say adapter plate, others say drill and tap the manifold |
