get them wheels sorted

I will be on it once bills are paid, doubt i will be using the 20mm spacers on the rear struggling with clearance on this wheels, gonna have a test run with 2 of the wheels tomorrow (the 2 with 45 profile tyres)

RE: chris_90 106 derv project, Vtr axle fitted + another wheel test fit :) - Chris_90 - 17-06-2013

So tried wheels agin as wanted to see what rear is like, the vtr axle me be a fair bit wider as before with no spacer would scrape inner arch, now ive got a good 15mm gap and extremely close to the outer arch no need for spacers then now. any way pics

Wheels are now on permanently :-D picked up a couple of Tyres and managed to get them on before work got 195/45/15 all round but fronts have a bit of stretch strange with them being same size Undecided

RE: chris_90 106 derv project, Vtr axle fitted + another wheel test fit :) - Midnightclub - 17-06-2013

If they're different brands, that'll explain it.. used to have a set of yokos on my old 16's which had slight stretch but when i changed the yokos to marshalls there wasn't any stretch at all

I've got yokos on back and mohark on front (think that's what they are) but surely 195 would mean they all should be 195 wide or there tape measures must be different lol

Gonna look at that tomorrow, as gonna under seal boot floor too, that bit of rust was hidden by the arch guard that fell out as it didn't have any thing to hold its self on to lol, but apart from that bit and a bit under bonnet thats the only rust ive found so far Smile

Almost perfect!

All this car needs now is some original 106 XSi alloys!

RE: chris_90 106 derv project, Vtr axle fitted + another wheel test fit :) - samass - 18-06-2013

Yeah I've got fairly chronic rust under the bonnet, near the jacking points, and in the boot. Need to bust out the welder very soon lol

RE: chris_90 106 derv project, Vtr axle fitted + another wheel test fit :) - Piggy - 18-06-2013

looking great!

fyi, the 1.5d clutch wont take much more power than stock, so if you go blower you need a different clutch/box or alternatively the xud9te is only 15kg heavier than the 1.5lump!

RE: chris_90 106 derv project, Vtr axle fitted + another wheel test fit :) - samass - 18-06-2013

f*ck the 1.9, supercharge the 1.5

I would pick these alloys over xsi alloys any day all tho some xsi alloys for winter wheels would be good Smile

I no but the work involved in swapping engine is alot more than just turboing the 1.5. Like gear linkages, engine mounts, clutch cable, drive shaft. etc etc i would love to do it tho, Im getting alot of people right up my arse thinking its a fast car lol getting abit annoying now Wink

Any gave it a quick wash and dry looks loads better now Big Grin

She does look really nice, now she just needs more power to go with the look!

Seriously thinking about the d turbo conversion just have no idea where to start would defo be calling on all the 306 guys on here for help if I was to do it

RE: chris_90 106 derv project, Quick clean and pics :) - Midnightclub - 18-06-2013

Speak to diggers, him and his brother did a 106 1.9dt conversion project

RE: chris_90 106 derv project, Quick clean and pics :) - ginge191 - 18-06-2013

Such a nice car! ThumbsUp

RE: chris_90 106 derv project, Quick clean and pics :) - samass - 18-06-2013

Of you go down the conversion route, as said, read thru diggers' thread on here and there are a few threads over on the 'moaners too. IMO, an xud swap is boring, but by all means, drash on!

RE: chris_90 106 derv project, Quick clean and pics :) - Grant - 18-06-2013

I like this a lot Smile

Nothing too over the top, looks epic!

RE: chris_90 106 derv project, Quick clean and pics :) - Chris_90 - 18-06-2013

Thanks guys :-D the plan is a practical daily car so don't wanna go ott with it like mega stretch tyres mm from archs etc think it's just right for me at min Smile apart from it being slow lol

Currently reading though it on .net, don't no why it would be boaring tho?

How I see it in my head d turbo engine Bosch pump front mount gt2056 or gt2052 (not a ko3 lmao ) should be a Safe 150-160bhp? In a car that is under a ton will be epic fun plus carnt be meany 106 d turbos around so be an elite club, got the perfect base for it now.

Don't see how a turbo on the 1.5 would be able to top it?

RE: chris_90 106 derv project, Quick clean and pics :) - Piggy - 18-06-2013

exactly.

so much effort to turbo the 1.5....lots of money needed too.

for the xud9, you need a custom engine mount, 1.8diesel 205shafts, and cut an inch away from the passenger underside of chassis leg for clearance of the gbox. linkages from a 406 if I recall and you in.
a standard blower and fmic would see 120/130bhp....more than enough for 870/880kg!

RE: chris_90 106 derv project, Quick clean and pics :) - samass - 18-06-2013

Boring in that its been done before, there's actually more out there than you think, break the mould dude! Granted, might be able to get more power out the 1.9 over the 1.5, but that's what I'm here to find out Wink

In fairness tho, a gt2056 xud 106 would be pretty epic...

RE: chris_90 106 derv project, Quick clean and pics :) - samass - 18-06-2013

And also, piggy, its not a lot of money to turbo a 1.5. So nnnyaaaa Tongue

RE: chris_90 106 derv project, Quick clean and pics :) - Piggy - 18-06-2013

I promise I have spent hours looking into the 1.5 turbo idea.....just a mountain of headaches and a bank of money needed.

its doable...but for only 15kg extra...xud9 ftw

RE: chris_90 106 derv project, Quick clean and pics :) - Chris_90 - 18-06-2013

Thanks for the link piggy will look when I'm on pc, I like the idea of turboing the 1.5 as I no it's not really a big job seems pretty easy plus I no samass has done it with what I believe some pretty good results. But a d turbo would win hands down for me.

Were did you see the but about 406 gear linkages? also u though the 205 shafts would only fit an early d turbo gearbox? I would like hdi box as think with it weight nothing it will go though the gears quicker reaching a higher top speed

I promise, I've done it, and including buying the car, taxing it, moting it, and boosting it, it doesn't owe me more than 600 quid. Sooooooo care to tell me where this mountain of money is needed?

yeah, 1.8 205 diesel shafts.

hdi box is same a dturbo box, just different final drive, so splines match.

you need 406 linkages and 406 gearstick assembly....think was on that link!

care to tell us how you did it so cheap??!

Custom manifold, downpipe, intake, etc alone I worked out at a few hundred?! A different gearbox with different fly/clutch came to another 100 or so depending on how cheap one could be got

then theres the headache of getting the xud9t bosch pump timed right
and the compression ratio is wrong, so head/gasket needs sorting for that

I assume it has more power than a xud9 wound up? and more reliable?

Bit of an update

got grinder on rear arches to remove rust luckily it hadnt gone though, ground it back to bare metal and then under sealed both rear arches and boot floor Smile
