RE: Daves DERV project + pics - CJ_Derv - 27-07-2012

No Probs im thinking of digging a pit out of mine and gettin an elecy feed over there,

Haha wow that guage looks like its from the titanic haha....... vintage Smile could see if theres any walnut at auctions for a surround Tongue

RE: Daves DERV project + pics - mark_airey - 27-07-2012

Knowing Dave as I do, that gauge most likely used to be attached to a diesel electric train lol

RE: Daves DERV project + pics - Dave - 27-07-2012

Whats your setup/garage like?

Yeh I got it off one of my friends on here, its off a train. You can see the date on the bottom '82. I thought about making a recess int he dash but that required removing 5" of material....

RE: Daves DERV project + pics - mark_airey - 27-07-2012

Well what do you know, didn't see that coming, PMSL

RE: Daves DERV project + pics - CJ_Derv - 27-07-2012

Well just moved in in november and just got round to getting it pretty much clear its next to row of our houses but spoke to neighbours about running a heavy duty armoured cable through loft spaces and dropping down into garage, and we getting roof re-done and re-inforced soon so thinking borrowing mates mini digger and shutter it out Smile

Haha do it, i may have seen a grandfather clock at auction we could change it for the clock face Smile

RE: Daves DERV project + pics - Poodle - 28-07-2012

Haha, nice! Meh, i say do it, weight saving!

RE: Daves DERV project + pics - Dave - 02-09-2012

Ok since dropping the boost and fitting a better blower, even at 20lb of boost, its just lifting the head and spewing its guts..... Its strange because with loads of boost/advance I only ever had issues with conrods failing.

Have regularly checked the rods by dropping the sump, and checking they all slide side to side freely... was all fine with 28lb on a stock DHY. I only have head issues.... awaiting on some new rods, and then I can fit these uprated head studs I have Smile

As I live next to a field, I do like the odd ragging session, managed to snap this which I thought was quite good too... nothing like an Airey creation, but you get the idea Wink

RE: Daves DERV project + pics - samass - 15-09-2012

christ, THATS where my buttplug went!

RE: Daves DERV project + pics - silverzx - 15-09-2012

Why have you got the max throttle travel screw still in place Dave?

RE: Daves DERV project + pics - C2K - 15-09-2012

English Electric is part of the history of Alstom. formerly GEC.

EE were acquired by GEC in 1968 so your gauge is older than 1982!

Requiring more head work I think! This was on 100% veg oil

Sorry about the terrible quality, didnt think I would be making a video that evening so could have mounted camera better.
22lb of boost, no idea on horsepower, any ideas?

Haha, you're not the first person to mention its phallic resemblance!!

Because the govnor is shimmed almost solid, I only want it to go so far, otherwise it'll break the intricate leversets, and also my govnor cradle isnt stock.

Can see on the bottom of the gauge its got 82 on it, still works brilliantly though Wink

RE: Daves DERV project + pics - C2K - 16-09-2012

I can see the pic - That'll be a service or calibration date I would expect, it's not an OE marking and the company died a death long before 1982!

I work at a former English Electric facility, as I work at Alstom Rugby - EE is part of our heritage!

Daves DERV project + pics - Sambarker - 16-09-2012

We have some old English Electric switchgear on our network!
