Need a tissue.....!!!

RE: Nialls GTi6 - Ready for mapping - darrenjlobb - 07-03-2014

Dont be disheartened Niall, Theres always issues with these kinds of builds...lets be honest...you could have bought a lynx kit, had it mapped, and everything would have been fine....

Then you would have come on the forum and been able to write nothing more than "Cars together, mapped, and making xhp just like every other one does" that would have been alot less interesting Tongue Its super close, just needs some fixes here and there, and then the remap will bring it to life.

Nothing ever worked first time on my car, it was always a learning curve, the annoying part for you having an ecu / map everytime you change something really holds things up, where i could just crank the fuel up when i added an additional 30psi to the already exsisting 30psi.

It will be epic when its done Smile

Oh I'm not disheartened at all! I arrived with the image in my head of something going wrong and other than the pump and boost leak, it couldn't of gone better to be honest and the car drives lovely now. Its just another obstacle which i know how to solve and will do but first, i want to drive it. Its been off the road for a long time now and driving back from Dartford, although it was all motorway, it really did put a big smile on my face....until i heard BANG then saw my arch liner departing along the hard shoulder lol

Niall you should be a happy bunny mate. You have rebuilt an engine, designed, sourced and built your own super charger kit !

You have a few little jobs but that's nothing compared to where you were before Xmas !

Pat yourself on the back and have a beer Wink

RE: Nialls supercharged GTi6 - Not quite what i expected - Poodle - 07-03-2014

Not a bad result at all dude, you'll have that lot sorted in no time! Smile

RE: Nialls supercharged GTi6 - Not quite what i expected - Piggy - 07-03-2014

Its running and didnt drop all its oil, three times, so you done well in my eyes!!!!

RE: Nialls supercharged GTi6 - Not quite what i expected - Niall - 07-03-2014

Just realised he's given me the wrong dyno graph and didn't give me the one of the final run where he altered the fuelling a bit but still gives you the idea of it.

Will email him tomorrow to get the correct graph Smile

RE: Nialls supercharged GTi6 - Not quite what i expected - C.A.R. - 07-03-2014

Congrats dude it sounds pretty awesome.

So when all is done and remapped it should be giving those Astra VXRs / Focus STs a run for their money? Sounds good to me Smile and it looks 10x better of course, what with being a 306!

Bitch please it already destroyed focus Sts standard lol.
Im now aiming for 230 providing something else doesn't go wrong lol

RE: Nialls supercharged GTi6 - Not quite what i expected - Piggy - 07-03-2014

Guna say...I properly embarrassed a focus ST this week...he thought he was the bee's knees for all of 2seconds!!
This should be Focus RS territory considering the weight comparrison.

A beauty of a power curve there mate

Not sure if serious.

An ST170 would outrun a diesel 306... A 5 pot ST would obliterate one.

Either I've missed the sarcasm or the Focus was broken!

C.A.R. you need to catch up with the times...

Definitely.

Focus ST2 weighs 250kg or so more for a start

That's a very common misconception.

It may well have left the factory that weight, but is likely to have rusted that 250kg off shortly after leaving the dealership lol

lmao

Surely the overweight MaccyD eating chavs who own them and drive them balance that out though? lol

Firstly good result on the home brew supercharging Big Grin top bombing!

But please dont even for a second think that this will be anywhere near tuned ST or RS performance. Perhaps a standard focus ST with a chap with one leg behind the wheel maybe... Having driven plenty of them in standard and modified (best being 411bhp RS) the difference between our peugeots and those focus's is outstanding.

RE: Nialls supercharged GTi6 - Not quite what i expected - Poodle - 08-03-2014

Lol I guess you've never driven a focus ST, they're disappointingly slow. When I first tried a st170 I thought it was broken, kept waiting for it to come on cam, still waiting now lol.

RE: Nialls supercharged GTi6 - Not quite what i expected - Matt-Rallye - 08-03-2014

Driven plenty of them, Admittedly St170's are dog poo and not worthy of any sporting credentials whatsoever.

St225's are a different kettle of fish. Even in standard form theyre plenty quicker than a gti6

RE: Nialls supercharged GTi6 - Not quite what i expected - Piggy - 08-03-2014

I wasnt talking about a slooowwww gti6...
I was talking about a supercharged 6 or turbocharhed 2.1xud Tongue

RE: Nialls supercharged GTi6 - Not quite what i expected - Poodle - 08-03-2014

That was aimed at CAR, Matt, on the phone at work so theres a good hour or so between me starting a post and posting it. lol

The newer sts are a different kettle of fish, but still not all that quick imo. I upset one the other day (traffic light racing, yes im a 14yo chav, what of it?? :p ), didn't beat him but wasn't exactly lagging behind either, and mine isn't whay i'd call quick lol.

RE: Nialls supercharged GTi6 - Not quite what i expected - Niall - 08-03-2014

Lol the older shape focus ST (the one they did in that bright orange) was slower than a standard 6. I tested this several times lol
Im told the new ones are a fair bit faster. Also, i know this is no where near focus RS power but at least it doesnt look as ridiculous. Should of been sold in Essex only. It suits them!

Well today didnt go to well. Took grant out for a spin, ragged it up to the limiter (which sounds amazing!) and after, had a worrying tapping similar to a bottom end but its coming from up top. After some research, it seems its a cracked exhaust manifold but i will see tomorrow. Im bloody hoping it is!

RE: Nialls supercharged GTi6 - Not quite what i expected - Tom - 08-03-2014

Oh dear lol. We ned in car videos now its boosted, ish. Have you fixed the leaks yet?

RE: Nialls supercharged GTi6 - Not quite what i expected - Piggy - 08-03-2014

Use a long metal rod of some sort Niall...

Put in on the area you may think is knocking and stick other end in your ear...

You will soon pinpoint where the noise is coming from Smile

Hope its simple Smile

RE: Nialls supercharged GTi6 - Not quite what i expected - Niall - 08-03-2014

Will be tomorrow piggy Smile
Was going to get a video today. Was only when i pulled away i noticed the knock so didnt go for it.
