RE: Nialls other project - Niall - 11-08-2012 I hate them. I'm just borrowing them for now until I can afford some decent tyres. RE: Nialls other project - bigcheez2k3 - 11-08-2012 Looking good ![]() I got those pedals the other day for mine, did you fill yours with the grease they gave you? I wasn't sure ![]() RE: Nialls other project - Niall - 11-08-2012 Yeah I did mate. I think they come pre greased but my last set lasted 30 seconds so just packed them full RE: Nialls other project - Niall - 12-08-2012 So finally finished except a decent set of tyres. Had a issue with the front brake. The older marzocchi forks with IS mount for some stupid reason, had the mount offset slightly. Hope used to sell an adaptor for this but not any more so I'm left with.... ![]() Now getting hold of some 6mm steel to make a adaptor on a Saturday afternoon wasn't possible so a quick trip to screw fix and a temporary fix is sorted.. ![]() Problem solved. For now! Anyway on to today and the first proper ride. Started early this morning with a brake fluid flush as it was discusting and shorten the chain slightly. Dog approves... ![]() First ride was to leith hill in dorking and within 5 minutes we already have to stop ![]() One of the view ![]() And then usain bolt joined us... ![]() Bike rode well. Forgot to set up the rear mech so could only get 8 gears and the seat post I got was far too short for my liking for XC'ing between trails. Forks I wasn't so impressed with. Filled with air to the recommended pressures for my weight and they were ridiculously stiff and the rebound was insane. Had a worrying knock as well which I thought could be a worn bush that the seller didn't tell me about but dissapeared after I adjusted the pressures when I got home. f*ck me i didn't realise how unfit I was! Well worth it though. Great day ![]() RE: Nialls other project - Poodle - 12-08-2012 But, but, bombers are amazing and manitous are just shit... ![]() She ride well otherwise bud? RE: Nialls other project - Niall - 12-08-2012 Lovely. Only thing is the front was really really lively but think that's down to skinny shit tyres and mental rebound. RE: Nialls other project - Poodle - 14-08-2012 What's the geometry on the frame? RE: Nialls other project - Niall - 14-08-2012 Sizes: 15.5", 17" & 19" (measured from centre of BB to top of seat tube) Tubing: Reynolds 725 double butted & heat treated cro-moly front triangle, ring reinforced cro-moly head tube, 4130 cro-moly seat stays and chain stays Effective Top Tube Lengths: 15.5" frame = 22.5" 17" frame = 23.25" 19" frame = 24" Head Angle: 70 degrees (recommended travel 120mm to 140mm) Seat Angle: 74 degrees Chain Stay Length: 16.73" BB Height: 12.76" Seat Post Size: 27.2mm Seat Clamp Size: 30mm (29.8mm may also fit) Front Mech Size 28.6mm top pull BB Shell: 73mm Max Rear Disc Size: 185mm Colours (subject to change without notice): Pearl Orange and Kawasaki Green RE: Nialls other project - Poodle - 15-08-2012 That's an xc-orientated geometry set-up, so it'll push you over the front end, could be what makes it seem more twitchy. Have you been used to more relaxed downhill/bsx/dj stuff before..? RE: Nialls other project - Niall - 15-08-2012 No it's identical to my last frame ....well except colour! I think it's the tyres. Them panaracers are hateful things at the best of times! RE: Nialls other project - samass - 16-08-2012 You lost me at "double butted". RE: Nialls other project - Poodle - 16-08-2012 Fair enough, guess the forks really are that stiff then lol. |
