Fair play to pug though, they certainly can get an epic noise from there engines

too right also realised last night that they're quite underated,

chattng to a friend of a friend going on about his car he had, (fiat coupe 20v) and taking it to the nurburg ring blha blha blah when I said doubt he'd keep me through the corners, a few of the guys actualy thought I was joking! bahaha

RE: ph2 gti6 on a budget (a big budget) - Midnightclub - 21-10-2012

I was so surprised at how well they handle in standard form tbh! Looking forward to stiffening it up..(giggidy)

Re: ph2 gti6 on a budget (a big budget) - kernow_joe - 22-10-2012

You ask and you get curt. On axle stands one drive shaft missing , No hubs, missing a wishbone, drop links missing and odd shocks

RE: ph2 gti6 on a budget (a big budget) - Curt - 22-10-2012

Haha nice one Joe, looking a bit sorry for itself but I'm sure it'll be looking good soon Smile

RE: ph2 gti6 on a budget (a big budget) - kernow_joe - 22-10-2012

hopefully be back on the road in a few weeks, just finding the time now its dark so early and no garage/lighting.

really dreading lowering the beam though

RE: ph2 gti6 on a budget (a big budget) - Curt - 22-10-2012

Yeah the weather/darkness is really depressing and limiting. You can take solace in the fact it can't be as bad as my phase 1 beam!

RE: ph2 gti6 on a budget (a big budget) - kernow_joe - 22-10-2012

I'm not sure we snapped a breaker bar and bent another removing a hub nut on saturday, had to take a trip to halfords and buy the strongest one they had!
if thats anything to go by I'm in for a fun day

RE: ph2 gti6 on a budget (a big budget) - kernow_joe - 25-10-2012

with the immenent failure of the mot fast approaching, I'm wondering what its going to fail on?

in past few weeks I've replaced the following ;

both track rod ends,
both wishbones (meyle HD ball joints, P bushes and front bush),
both drop links,
both front wheel bearings,
rebuilt drivers side drive shaft,
pas steering pipe,

todo;

replace pershed brakes pipes,
maybe weld the exhaust/lash it up with gum gum and exhaust tape :p

I'm sure its still going to fail though Sad

RE: ph2 gti6 on a budget (a big budget) - Niall - 25-10-2012

make sure you give it a goos thrashing before the mot. These seem to suffer with emissions big time even when they stand for a few weeks!

that won't be a problem, it always gets trashed when its driven Smile

made a start on the inlet manifold aswell

none of its perfect but will look a darn site better than it does now

RE: ph2 gti6 on a budget (a big budget) - Curt - 25-10-2012

Look good man Smile need to get around to painting mine!

Good luck with the MOT.

RE: ph2 gti6 on a budget (a big budget) - kernow_joe - 25-10-2012

cheers bud,

I was planning on painting mine but after giving them a quick rub down think they're staying plain, only took about 1 hour to clean so far, although the inlet needs quite a bit more time ...

RE: ph2 gti6 on a budget (a big budget) - Tom - 26-10-2012

They look nice! I do keep my eye out for 306's when im out and about, there seems a fair few of us cornish lot on here!

RE: ph2 gti6 on a budget (a big budget) - kernow_joe - 31-10-2012

cheers Tom, where you too?

just dropped this off for the immenent mot failure, and damn it drives nice, first time I've driven it for a while on the account of being illegal and all, hopefully be legal again tomorrow Smile

RE: ph2 gti6 on a budget (a big budget) - Midnightclub - 31-10-2012

Don't discount it just yet mate! I thought mine was going to fail miserably and it passed with no advisories after i swapped the headlights over Smile

ph2 gti6 on a budget (a big budget) - Frosty - 31-10-2012

How did the MOT go?

RE: ph2 gti6 on a budget (a big budget) - kernow_joe - 31-10-2012

all I think it could fail on is exhaust maybe and headlight aim, rest should be reet.

MOT is tomorrow plus getting the cam belt done at the same time only thing I didn't fancy doing myself, couldn't drop it off in the morning though due to work

RE: ph2 gti6 on a budget (a big budget) - kernow_joe - 01-11-2012

just had a chat, the cat is f*cked as I thought, just hope its not beyond repair/bodging untill I decat it, and 2 brake pipes need replacing as I new, just didn't get round to fixing them

not to bad then apart from the cat which could be a bit of a problem Sad

RE: ph2 gti6 on a budget (a big budget) - kernow_joe - 01-11-2012

nah not too bad, not an actual mot test just check by mechanic whilst doing cam belt, need to find a cheap cat or bodge the f*ck out of mine in the rain over the weekend now Sad

Re: ph2 gti6 on a budget (a big budget) - Alee83 - 01-11-2012

Mr Pellowe has a gti cat for £35 posted! I was gonna buy it as a spare!

Re: ph2 gti6 on a budget (a big budget) - kernow_joe - 01-11-2012

Thought he'd sold it, nice one cheers, rep when I get to a computer

RE: ph2 gti6 on a budget (a big budget) - kernow_joe - 01-11-2012

went down to have a chat after work and my mechanic handed me a handful of bits of rubber that used to make up part of my cam belt!!

and one of the pulleys was f*cked, I'm so lucky it hadn't snapped and caused any major damage. but end of the matter needed a pulley thats going to takea few days to get in, never mind atleast it will be trust worthy when its done

RE: ph2 gti6 on a budget (a big budget) - cwspellowe - 01-11-2012

Save the rep joe, cat sold on ebay sorry mate

£30? Pah. £50 minus fees suited me nicely lol

RE: ph2 gti6 on a budget (a big budget) - Curt - 01-11-2012

Lucky escape with the belt by the sound of it! Cat shouldn't be a problem, there's loads about and they go pretty cheap

ah sound mate, I would have been happy with the original £40 but got to try save myself a few quid :p

think I've got myself a cat and cat back stainless sorted now though, going to have a nose after work tomorrow.

yeah very lucky escape would have been a double snapper....
