I won it yesterday. Ill strip it down when it gets here, if play is really bad then ill order a rebuild kit, otherwise ill just bash it on. I recon everyone was put off by the 'tards red paint job!

Re: TD04L - studturbo - 20-02-2012

Re: TD04L - Dave - 20-02-2012

Do you HAVE to get them balanced after a rebuild?

Ofcourse not Smile

Just make sure you clock the exhaust shaft and compressor wheel back to the same position. Had turbos apart and they have always gone back together fine, triple mark everything, and remember compressor wheel nut is clockwise to undo!

Lovely! Was hoping you might say that!!!!!! Never had a turbo apart before so looking forward to getting stuck in. Cheers for the heads up on the right handed thread!

Re: TD04L - studturbo - 20-02-2012

think ill be going for the i put up haha dont wont it failing

Re: TD04L - londondan86 - 25-02-2012

Turbo came this morning, its tiny!!! lol I just pictured it being a lot bigger than it actually is! Condition is spot on, no play in the shaft whatsoever, all the blades look good, very happy. The only thing is the CHRA Clamp is missing, I contacted the seller and he said that after it came off the scoopy he planned to use it on a ford so unclamped it but couldnt split it! So I told him to MTFU and try to find the clamp!

In case he doesnt find it, does anyone have a spare lying around for as cheap as poss!

Re: TD04L - Ruan - 28-02-2012

That looks absolutely tiddly, even for a 13t....

Re: TD04L - studturbo - 05-03-2012

Why does my TD04 look so much bigger than that lol

Re: TD04L - Ruan - 05-03-2012

I don't think that's a 13t....

That looks like a proper baby, that's definitely not a TD04L hotside anyway...

Re: TD04L - studturbo - 05-03-2012

Well my TD04L is alot bigger than that so looks like you have bin ripped off dan

Re: TD04L - londondan86 - 05-03-2012

I bloody hope not! Its defo the right comp housing. I'll measure up now

Re: TD04L - londondan86 - 05-03-2012

Right hopefully this makes sense! Compressor: Inducer 39.72mm Exducer 56.70mm Turbine: Inducer 41.15mm Exducer 46.12mm

Re: TD04L - Ruan - 06-03-2012

If those measurements are of your turbo, rather than just pulled from the internet, that is a TD04L-13T...

Re: TD04L - darrenjlobb - 06-03-2012

Just paste the serial number on the comp housing in here...theres loads of websites that translate it...

But should say td04L on the plate also..

Tbh it looks like one to me, there not very big...

Cheers Darren! Feel a bit better now. Ive been googling the comp and turbine sizes and all seems to be spot on (excusing cheap ebay caliper!)

I took a photo of the plate. I did try googling this as well but ended up going in circles!
