Liam, shouldn't you be trying to justify the cost of an XK8 + the cost of a gearbox rebuild to yourself? :p

I'd have been tempted to buy the Jag and spend the finance money on fuel and insurance, I bet after 5 years you'd be no worse off...

How much was the Kia? Basically, I'm trying to justify an XK8 to myself lol

Correct. I would love a xk8 ( well would prefer a xkr-r but you can't be picky) but a xk8 doesn't do 70mpg on the motorway!

No, your right, but would the money you'd save on interest and depreciation pay for the extra fuel/insurance/maintainance? That's my theory Wink

RE: New car time - Niall - 05-02-2013

Probably not. Tax is free, insurance is half the price of the 6, it's under warranty and doesn't need moting for 3 years.

I'm doing almost 3000 miles a month at the moment, a lot of which is town driving, so need cheap cheap cheap!!

RE: New car time - puglove - 05-02-2013

Cheap is what you got, dont slam the door to hard, dont want the panel to crease

RE: New car time - Pugmarshall - 05-02-2013

So... It's 130bhp, about 1600kgs (probably) and it's as fast as a 6? Epic troll fail.

Did you actually have a look at it at the weekend? I wouldn't of bought it if it was cheap crap but its built substantially better than any VAG I've been in.

Is it bad that I've been looking at v12 XJS's for a few years time when I can afford to run a second car again? You can get silly power out of them so easily! Or an old Volvo!

Yeah i did i was a bit worried about leaning on it though i didnt want to write off a panel after you spent all the cash on it

RE: New car time - Toms306 - 05-02-2013

Err, you're saying about cheap panels and you drive pugs? .I've never owned any other car that gains dents as much as a 306.... lol

That was a 'your right and I have no valid argument' answer right there!!

No, not at all. I've driven an XJ12 and I can honestly say that the Jaguar V12 is a f*cking masterpiece of an engine, and besides a ropey old 750i probably the cheapest way into V12 ownership.

I'm getting the second car bug, I still need to scratch my itch for a 5 cylinder Audi, a Corrado or a 205 GTI, and after getting a quote for classic insurance I reckon quitting smoking would pay most of my insurance. Problem is, I really like tobacco....
