Don't know the exact figures, but I've managed about 620 miles to a tank over the weekend Big Grin

And Jonny is speaking the truth!

RE: FAO Fooby - Curt - 02-12-2012

I did have a plan involving a steak knife (to clarify, for those bloody balloons, I'm not that vicious)

Hmm, mines definitely broken then. lol

Unless they changed something in the newer (lower tax) ones to make it more fuel efficient for lower emmisions?

Out of interest, how long does yours take to warm up? In this weather mines only just touching 70 after 10 miles or so, is imagine its wasting fuel on the cold map longer than it needs to.

RE: FAO Fooby - 4WayDiablo - 03-12-2012

Mine (although a DT) will get slightly above 70 on the 2 mile trip to work

About the same as my Tubby although on cold nights I did notice that it could do a 20 mile trip well below working temp!

RE: FAO Fooby - Toms306 - 03-12-2012

Afaik the XUDs don't have a coolant heater though do they? I'm wondering if the glowplugs in my coolant heater are worn out, or maybe just not working at all. Unless the stats stuck open a bit maybe.

lol AFAIK you're clutching at straws there mate, but yeah there's something not right.

But mine takes about that long to warm up, if i'm going steady. If I'm on a back road, it's more like 6 miles, even if I try and go steady.

RE: FAO Fooby - KrisB - 03-12-2012

I managed to get from Dorking (surrey) to Bury (manchester) in just over 1/4 tank... then half a tank on way back 3 up with luggage.

But then i have an 80 Litre tank plus neck.

Lol, it just seems odd that every other car I've owned has done much better than book figures with me until the HDis....there must be some reason fir that, I just can't figure out what yet.

I don't dare thrash mine till its past 70c.....so it always takes ages to warm up. I've noticed its really steamy in the cold though, just as the 1.4 was as the headgasket was going. Hopefully that's not happening with this though. Confused

RE: FAO Fooby - Poodle - 03-12-2012

Actually, Tom may be on to something there. I'm sure my coolant heater is knackered, and my mpg is fairly similar to his...

Re: FAO Fooby - rocker8742 - 03-12-2012

If anyone wants to work it out my 6 did 351 miles to 50.1 liters was mainly sat at 70 bit with afair bit of town driving and hooning

RE: FAO Fooby - Matt - 04-12-2012

RE: FAO Fooby - Curt - 04-12-2012

RE: FAO Fooby - Matt - 04-12-2012

you didn't come to the christmas meet, therefore your mpg is invalid.

RE: FAO Fooby - Chris_90 - 04-12-2012

Whats the lowest mpg you guys get from a hdi?? my best was 44.8 but lowest was 38mpg, on advrage im around 40mpg :-( that is stop start round town tho.

RE: FAO Fooby - Poodle - 04-12-2012

I've had 37mpg before, that was a week of very short journeys (moving house and delivering directories) and a severe ragging session.

32mpg, not bad for a '6 imo. Smile

I did a week of short journeys (10 mile round trips loaded with heavy Golf parts) and hoons at erm...illegal speeds and still got 50mpg! Huh Doesn't matter how I drive it always seems to be the same +-1! Dodgy
