I dont think id drive with less than the full quoto of wheel bolts.

Ive had a wheel come off before, not something i want to experience again.

Yeh but wheels designed to have three bolts are a different thing they are designed that way

What did it feel like? And did the brake disc come off therefore popping the caliper piston out when you pressed the pedal therefore losing all braking systems? This is what I would imagine would happen but did it actually?

Re: 3 Wheel Bolts - Ian - 16-01-2012

The disc didn't fall off. It was screwed onto the hub. Driving along... Wheel wobbled and bang front corner fell onto the disc and the wheel overtook me.

Re: 3 Wheel Bolts - Toms306 - 17-01-2012

I lost a couple after they were left loose when I had my 'clones balanced for the first time (woah, that was 2 years ago now! :o ) and I drove straight to the pug dealer next day to replace them.......didn't have any probs but I wouldn't like to drive on just two for long!!

Re: 3 Wheel Bolts - Strikeforce - 17-01-2012

4 is better obviously but i did run on 3 for about a year once without a problem, maybe i was lucky tho

Re: 3 Wheel Bolts - londondan86 - 17-01-2012

Right, I was lucky. Managed to get a brand new bolt to go in, didnt go in smooth at all and I recon when it comes out that will be it - new hub. BUT it did torque up so fingers crossed as shes in for her MOT as we speak.

Oh and the other 3 hadn't moved a bit, still safe than sorry.
