RE: 406 HUBS - puglove - 11-10-2012 Indeed it is. It will be a cool mod as well IMO Oh and jonny............................GAY RE: 406 HUBS - Scott - 11-10-2012 Sounds good to me Chris I'll be very interested if that does work as I could then run brembos year round, at the moment I don't want to get them as I'm not changing brake discs/callipers/pads every time I want to put the clones back on! RE: 406 HUBS - Curt - 11-10-2012 Ooooow can't get my Turini's dirty or gritty ooooooow. Oh wait, wrong Astor driver, sorry Scott RE: 406 HUBS - Scott - 11-10-2012 Nah you're pretty spot on. RE: 406 HUBS - puglove - 11-10-2012 Its more like OH NO my wheels will go all grey with the brake dust and road grit! Oh wait ...................................... RE: 406 HUBS - Curt - 11-10-2012 Owwwwh no my whole car has gone dirty-black from road grit. Oh wait... RE: 406 HUBS - spike2002 - 11-10-2012 Doesnt the ball joint connect totaly different to the 306? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/PEUGEOT-406-1996-2001-OFFSIDE-FRONT-HUB-BEARING-ABS-/300695763870?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item4602dd3b9e RE: 406 HUBS - Niall - 11-10-2012 Northerner is right! RE: 406 HUBS - spike2002 - 11-10-2012 Im sure with abit of fabricating tho the 306 wishbones could be adapted to take the 406 ball joint. Niall im no Northerner :p RE: 406 HUBS - puglove - 12-10-2012 (11-10-2012, 08:24 PM)Curt Wrote: Owwwwh no my whole car has gone dirty-black from road grit. Oh wait... RE: 406 HUBS - Jonny81191 - 12-10-2012 From that picture it looks as though you could get some plates made up that would replace the ball joint, and instead of the ball joint, just have a hole. This RE: 406 HUBS - Jonny81191 - 12-10-2012 Thinking about it, if you were going to the effort of having a plate made up, couldn't it be made longer as well, to give some more camber? Although might that cause issues with driveshaft lengths? RE: 406 HUBS - spike2002 - 12-10-2012 Yes it would cause issues with the drive shafts unless you could use the 406 ones if they are longer. RE: 406 HUBS - Niall - 12-10-2012 Shafts have completely different part numbers so would assume there going to be longer. Also, the intermediate shaft looks different! RE: 406 HUBS - Janne L - 30-11-2016 Thread lift! I've been working on this mod for a while and here are my findings: 406 knuckles will widen the track about 7mm 406 knuckles have about one degree smaller angle between the wheel mounting surface and the strut (i.e. less camber) Even though the distance between the caliper mounting holes is the same, they are roughly 10mm further out from wheel center meaning a a 20mm larger disc is required. Hubs seem similar enough, the splines match perfectly with 306 driveshafts, I haven't done any measuring on them yet though And as noted previously the ball joint solution is different. Now all i need to test if my 807/C8 Brembo's will fit in the 16" wheels I've got, if not, i'll scrap this idea (my goal was to make a longer ball joint to correct the wishbone angle after lowering) |
