I cant believe im about to say this but..................... It actually lools really nice for a man stain. The colour really suits the front and rear smooth.

Not much of an update I'm affraid, slow but steady as funds allow!

Gave her a damn good clean today, still haven't polished this car nor waxed it since buying it! Ought to really before the winter sets in. She looks good though, agree?

Next up today I fitted my new boost gauge, as I thought the other one didn't really fit in with the OEM look I'm going for -

So pulled that out and it soon became clear that whoever installed it didn't own a soldering iron or have access to any kind of crimping tool!

Looks good Chris. Needs slightly more lows at the front though maybe? I think anthracite 'clones would set it off.

If you want to do your fogs yellow, I have some tint film stuff left from mine. If you send me your address I'll send you enough to do yours?

Done nothing to this, but it has been a reliable little beast (touch wood).

Not cleaned since before Florence was born (now 7 weeks old!) oops. Tyre was a bit flat the other day when I had a business meeting in Ipswich, was waiting for it to inflate and took this random picture.

Really need to get someone to help me fit the parts I have gathered. I might not bother fitting the whole door, may just fit the rub-strip instead. Can't be asked aligning it properly.

Does anyone have a passenger side rain rail? The small section of rubber which runs along behind the door over the top of the roof. Mine is missing!

Just read your thread it looks good mate.

If you replace the door it's really easy no need to realign it if you just use a 10mm socket to undo the bolts in the hinges so that it splits the hinge in 2 then apply a little grease to the half the hinge left on the car then fit your other door saves having to realign everything.

But i am loving the oem look about your car!

If you'd brought the door to Ipswich while you were this way I'd have given you a hand fitting the door. Wink But it's not difficult, the doors on these are so light! I whipped my drivers door off to fix the loom a few weeks ago, not difficult at all. Smile

Hi Chris. Get 6 brakes. Makes a world of difference and they look better against clones. Make sure you ditch the 14" spare tho!!

Like your gauge mount. Looks like it belongs their, plastics look a good match.

New door unwrapped and not quite the same shade, and it has a few scratches Sad

It doesn't have the little parking ding my current door has, but I can't live with a miss-matching door! I've nicked the rub-strip from it and will just fit that, as mine is broken at the moment.

Did a little job yesterday...

Always bugged me that my Stack boost gauge illuminated in white, while all the other dials are yellow. Christmas rolls around and I get cracking with the Quality Street...

The exhaust and decat are both now fitted and I have some jobs for the weekend -
Clean the thing (it's been 3 months)
Take some pictorz
Remove rear wiper
Fit the better condition rub strip down the passenger side
Fit my immaculate (ok, nearly) GTi steering wheel

Little update.

Just general maintenance has swallowed up most of the money I would have spent on the car, it had to have a new driveshaft the other week, then two new rear shock absorbers. Happy days.

Now the clutch has gone, so even more needs spending!

One thing that has always bothered me when looking around in the boot is that the boot insulation is f*cked, it's hard in places and bits keep falling off it. So I removed it.

Fitted a new boot mat over the existing grey mat, which I kept in to help act as a bit of a sound deadener -

Also fitted GTi6 boot trim a while ago which you can see in that pic.

Dewipered the rear end, but the nut was on solid and didn't want to risk breaking the rear window. I know I'm not going to re-fit the rear wiper motor so I took a hacksaw to it -

Then fitted a slightly different from the norm blanking plug -

Put the button RIGHT where the steering column adjuster is like a f*cking knob, so that might have to go in future and be relocated.

Feels so much better to hold.

Also made attempt number 3 at trying to make the boost gauge vacuum hose stay on the nipple, fecking thing. Now has a fuel pipe clam around it, fingers crossed...

Just need to repair or replace the small piece of trim which is on the passenger side wing, which you can see is missing on this photo -

Well I have a big drive to Newcastle and back this coming weekend but I'm told that so long as I don't labour the clutch it should be good for a few thousand miles?

Other than that I was going to PM you because after running a search you have posted in a lot of the clutch-related threads so I know you have experience doing it lol

Yea got rid of a cheapy eBay one (which did alright but over-read) and this looks much better now it matches the same yellow as the OEM clocks. A stage 1 HDi only appears to hit 12-13psi though, not 15 as indicated on my old gauge!

It's an RGM pillar-pod buddy, I got lucky and found one second hand. I think you can still buy them new (SRowell was looking at them) but they're not cheap.

Lol, thanks. I can probably lend a hand at some point, they're not tricky just time consuming. other things usually complicate it like having to change a droplink or ball joint. Hope you're not in a rush lol, i'm snowed under.

I did the better part of 20k Commuting with no noticeable deterioration. Clutch looked fine meat wise but was obviously not good enough.slipped just like yours is doing, never really eased up on it, as i was always overtaking in 4th or 5th on country lanes. I just got used to factoring in the slip before power.

Just seen the pics, what exhaust did you fit? Think my second one is about to die.

Cool cheers, yea I may just leave it for now, looks like a garage will charge around the £300 mark for a clutch replacement!

The exhaust is just a cheapy Hoffmann made one, better than the budget one which was on the car when I bought it. When I have a spare £50 I'll upgrade to the straight-through centre section too. It has a hoffman decat pipe and backbox at the moment.

Not really done much with this lately, due to the weather and spending money on toy cars instead! (literally!)

Got some new boots on the front, went for Uniroyal Rainsports as they were on offer on Camskill. Tyre walls feel a bit 'squidgy' compared to my last recollection of these tyres, albeit on a somewhat lighter mx5. Running 2.5bar in them but they still look a bit 'flat'? Might bung some more pressure in them at the weekend.

The clutch has been behaving itself and I've fixed the side-strip on the passenger side after it fell off. It's superglue'd on, don't tell anyone. Survived the pressure washer treatment anyway!

Treated her to the second wash she has had in 6 months! Took 3 buckets to get all the grime off, then failed to take any pictures. Rest assured, she's gleaming.

Nothing much to update,

Car has been returning a fairly consistent 55mpg, doesn't seem to matter if I rag it or take it easy, it just returns the same!

Has now eaten both front driveshafts in the space of 4 months, so a couple of weeks ago we replaced the driver's side shaft. Fingers crossed I won't be doing that again.

Fitted a straight-thru centre section from eBay, 'Hoffmann' exhaust system. Very cheap, and it looks it, but fits perfect and does the job. Removing the silencer has probably saved a fair bit of weight too, this straight pipe is nice and light-

Attacked the exhaust tip with a scouring pad. Had no wire wool, so use what you can eh? Considering this is bare metal (ie. not chromed) I think it came up pretty nice? Going to get some wire wool on it sometime and really make it shine. This car now has a full Hoffmann system, decat pipe, straight centre and backbox.

Finally fitted these fancy mud flaps I bought back in January on a cheap auction through eBay. They fit pretty good, don't expect them to stop much though! Now I'd like the front pair with the 'Peugeot' logo's on.
