I may go and see If i can get enough decent apple juice to start on making cider today. RE: Homebrew - THE_Liam - 23-07-2012 Just ordered myself one of these: http://www.the-home-brew-shop.co.uk/acatalog/Lager_Starter_kit_COOPERS_40_pint_5_gallons.html Been wanting to try this again for a while. I've told a couple of my mates about this way of making epic amounts of cheap beer, and they're willing to be my lab rats (because they've never had the shits from mouldy homebrew before ), so I'll report back in about 4 weeks RE: Homebrew - Dum-Dum - 23-07-2012 Nice, seen them in wilko and been tempted to get my bestie one for christmas so let me know how it goes. RE: Homebrew - Matt - 23-07-2012 Just bought some turbo yeast! Shit just got interesting! Homebrew - ash240970 - 25-07-2012 (23-07-2012, 11:01 PM)Matt Wrote: Just bought some turbo yeast! Shit just got interesting! Is that Tdo4 turbo yeast or t25 turbo yeast? Homebrew - THE_Liam - 25-07-2012 HX35 turbo yeast RE: Homebrew - Norledge - 25-07-2012 I've made up a 'vodka' of sorts. Take a litre of ethanol, add half a litre of grain vodka, 4 kilos of sugar, kilo of black berrys and half a kilo of unripe elderberries. Boil and leave uncovered for 3 weeks, scoop off the mould, reboil and bottle. Leave for 2 months then filter. Smells like dark chocolate, tastes rank. apparently it should be about 80%. Still got half a litre left. Anyone drinking in mine and Ruans house has a shot. Thems the rules. RE: Homebrew - samass - 25-07-2012 might as well drink meths... RE: Homebrew - Norledge - 25-07-2012 Methanhol is the one that causes problems, ethanol is perfectly safe to drink - it's essentially what the ABCV is in any alcohol. In this brew it's just watered down... with Vodka. RE: Homebrew - samass - 25-07-2012 true. the 'scrape of the mould' bit makes me laugh haha RE: Homebrew - Norledge - 25-07-2012 It was more of a scoop. It was soft, fluffy and quite tall! RE: Homebrew - Ruan - 25-07-2012 It's colloquially known as "Death" in our household.... It tastes f*cking jhank, but it gets you f*cking pissed - depending on the objective for the evening, this can be a good or a bad thing. RE: Homebrew - samass - 25-07-2012 sounds, epic. RE: Homebrew - lolsteve - 25-07-2012 Cut out the middle man and drink from your petrol tank RE: Homebrew - cully - 25-07-2012 think its coming along good the orange on the left has nearly stopped fermenting and is settling quite well th lemon on the right is still fermenting this started on the 22/7 today is the 25/7 think I'm going to double brew the orange on Saturday after a %vol reading and drink the lemon as long as its settled nice RE: Homebrew - Diggers - 27-07-2012 just ordered 25l worth of turbo yeast, a airlock with bung and a hydrometer all in £11.38 RE: Homebrew - Matt - 27-07-2012 I got that turbo yeast brewing now RE: Homebrew - cpikey316_ - 27-07-2012 (25-07-2012, 02:02 PM)Norledge Wrote: I've made up a 'vodka' of sorts. Scared the shit out of me RE: Homebrew - Poodle - 28-07-2012 Did you not put a proper airlock on it? Needs to be able to release the co2 from the fermentation process doesnt it? RE: Homebrew - Matt - 28-07-2012 Just a lid haha, now just placed on, it's so bloody active bubbling like mad! RE: Homebrew - lolsteve - 28-07-2012 The pet bottles can handle mad amounts of pressure, had a 2L with the first brew in there and kinda forgot about it for a few days came back and the bottle was as hard as concrete and seemed to take forever to vent out We drank the first batch the other night, this being a bread yeast one . tasted foul , but after a week brewing in the big container and then a week in the pet bottle you could taste the alchohol/feel it. but it tasted so bad people where mixing in vodka to take the taste away so I don't advise bread yeast if you want something for the taste |
