RE: Buggy Pics from the weekend. - C.A.R. - 24-03-2013 Can't you get that dash flocked? Looks awesome. Is that a K20 lump? Be interesting to see what sort of power it makes compared to the off-the-shelf superchargers that are available... RE: Buggy Pics from the weekend. - Rippthrough - 24-03-2013 It's an F20C. We could get the dash flocked yes, but that costs money ![]() RE: Buggy Pics from the weekend. - Rippthrough - 24-03-2013 Okay, whilst the driveshaft angles were still just within limits (moving the 'box forwards didn't help them), with the extra power/stress anticipated we had a bit of a question mark over the longevity of the CV joints, they get pretty hot from the transmission loss as it is. Anyway, after a few weeks thinking about it, we bit the bullet and decided to go with longer driveshafts to reduce the angles. Of course, that means moving the outer CV joint outwards to suit, and the car is already as wide as we can practically go at the rear that becomes a bit more difficult, so, cue shiny bits: ![]() ![]() ![]() Whacking great spindle/hub that's large enough to pass the CV joint right through, with ally upright to bolt to the rear trailing arms, of course, that means we can't drive the discs off the rear of the spindle any more (The bearing preload nut is there now) hence the ally brake bell instead of bolting them to the rear of the hubs as presently. The CV then bolts up to a machined drive ring that is clamped down on by the wheel: ![]() Although, I'm not sure whether to just ditch that and drill the wheels to bolt the the CV's directly to them - we've never broken a wheel yet so I think it'd be okay - just makes wheel changes more of a hassle. RE: Buggy Pics from the weekend. - EddB - 24-03-2013 Quality Buggy Pics from the weekend. - Alee83 - 24-03-2013 You could flock the dash yourself rip... Kits on eBay... ![]() RE: Buggy Pics from the weekend. - Rippthrough - 24-03-2013 It's not very good over large flat area's without having the electrostatic charge applied, never looks right. Besides, a tin of matt black spray is a quid ![]() RE: Buggy Pics from the weekend. - Jenkosowls - 25-03-2013 Just some pics that I have nothing much as usually just crack on! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() RE: Buggy Pics from the weekend. - Rippthrough - 26-03-2013 ![]() ![]() Oil shortage? What oil shortage? MORE FUEL! ![]() RE: Buggy Pics from the weekend. - Rippthrough - 21-04-2013 You know how I said the dry sump tank had to go in a really bad place because there was nowhere else for it? Well, here's praying we don't get too much of a love-tap up the arse: ![]() Ed had fun making it though: ![]() RE: Buggy Pics from the weekend. - Rippthrough - 01-05-2013 And the worst part of all builds, just when you think you're nearly done, Jenks comes along and steals everything. ![]() Thieving bastard! RE: Buggy Pics from the weekend. - Rippthrough - 07-06-2013 Might cope with a bump or two... ![]() Jenks made sure the gofasterjuice gets to the right place: ![]() Fairies have been in while I sat on a beach with a pint, apparently they do panelwork, who knew? ![]() ![]() ![]() as you could guess from the header tank locations, space is getting kinda tight now, and there's still some more plumbing and fibreglass/ally heatshielding to go in yet, never mind the dampers and panelwork going on... ![]() ![]() RE: Buggy Pics from the weekend. - HDIkyle - 07-06-2013 I see a severe lack of electrical work here Mr P....... Whens the estimated starting date? RE: Buggy Pics from the weekend. - Rippthrough - 07-06-2013 Today as it happens. RE: Buggy Pics from the weekend. - Rippthrough - 09-06-2013 Bit of framework to make it easier to shape the rear bonnet/scoops, yeah, you know how I said the engine bay was quite tightly packed? ![]() ![]() ![]() RE: Buggy Pics from the weekend. - Rippthrough - 10-06-2013 Spaghetti junction time this week: ![]() RE: Buggy Pics from the weekend. - Rippthrough - 15-06-2013 I hate f*cking wiring. RE: Buggy Pics from the weekend. - cully - 15-06-2013 ooow is that 8 injectors i see there? you mapping the second set in on high flow with the first set for better torque and the first set for bottom end? RE: Buggy Pics from the weekend. - Grant - 15-06-2013 This is so epic. RE: Buggy Pics from the weekend. - Rippthrough - 15-06-2013 Low rpms/idle on the first set, gradually switches to second set in the midrange until it runs out of injector duration, then it blends both sets together just to get enough fuel in there at the top end. RE: Buggy Pics from the weekend. - cully - 15-06-2013 excellent i helped map a 205 set up like this i will see if i can find a picture RE: Buggy Pics from the weekend. - Rippthrough - 15-06-2013 It's running the stock injectors (Bosch EV14 type) as the first set, which have very good atomisation even at low durations, so ideal for the bottom end (in fact, theoretically it'd go through emissions for an MOT even with the blower and no cat, although I'm not so sure about the rest of the car), then the outer set are the high flow shower-type from the RX-8. There should be just about enough flow to hit 500 at the crank. RE: Buggy Pics from the weekend. - Rippthrough - 15-06-2013 Having said that, I just ran a few quick simulations with the full 500 and it's not much faster than with 350bhp, not unless we can get very fancy with the rear suspension/tyre setup. I'm pretty sure still spinning the rear wheels in top gear at 130mph is not conductive to good health. RE: Buggy Pics from the weekend. - Rippthrough - 19-06-2013 Shiny Shiny Shiny Shiny Shiny.... ![]() ![]() ![]() Much more fun than wiring anyway. RE: Buggy Pics from the weekend. - Midnightclub - 19-06-2013 Oooooh shiny..!
