To me that looks like the belt has slipped what with the cam being snapped and all, it looks as though the valves have been slammed home by the piston pushing them up into the cam and snapping it clean in half while at the same time snapping one of the rods,

You said it had no oil pressure which is also possible that it could be the oil pump chain having snapped of the pump its self having shit its self as they are directly behind that hole too!

we did think about the timing belt.
it looks neerly new BUT there is alot of stringy bits from a past belt in the casings, so maybe the belt was changed but nothing else.

also i just realise, we havent got a boost compensator feed not anywhere to run a gauge (once he buys one)
might have to send one of the ally pipe in for welding Sad ally welding isnt cheep.

Re: My brothers Estate Dtub - Diggers - 07-06-2012

along with everything else, the only thing we are waiting on is:
boost gauge
engine
and getting the manifolds into welding to de-egr them

Re: My brothers Estate Dtub - cwspellowe - 09-06-2012

Not a lot then? lol

Re: My brothers Estate Dtub - Diggers - 09-06-2012

well, got a engine, got a d8b with a Bosch :d so now got a bosch to sell.
but cost ma bro £150 :o and he removed the box and few other bits,
but mangaged to pocket oem headlight protectors :d and a n/s hub Big Grin but they closed at 2:30 and at 2:25 we just got the engine into the trailer.
then when i was home i realised i needed a o/s Angry
but oh well didnt cost me anything.

but the engine was clean, newish valeo clutch, gates cambelt, water pump, glowplugs and is NON Egr so no need to send the manifolds in Big Grin
cant see why it was scrapped.
but got the ally sump back from the powercoaters, only had it acid dipped to make it mint, fitted dewastegate'd t2, all new gaskets, new belt kit and w/p, swapped all the loom, gearbox, new filters and oil.
just got to fit it into the car tomorow and fit the FMIC and pipes then send one into the welders for a boost takeoff.

so that is all for today

Good to hear! Big Grin See you there!

Re: My brothers Estate Dtub - Diggers - 14-06-2012

right this is still off the road atm, waiting on 2 more silicon pipes, had to do some re routing because of the rad water hose.
they say theyve been despatched today, soo hopefully next day delevery as the other ones were next day,
if not sat morning.

if not not, FMIC bypass??? he doenst want to miss another show.
but the waiting means we havent even had a chance to try the engine yet so no idea if its any good or not. Confused
