This is all being done on the cheap. The original clutch isn't in bad condition and changing this box is a Piece of cake... Bit of fun ![]() RE: The boosted 205 rat - pictures added (heavy) - 399road - 26-08-2016 Hi. Looks like a tidy project this one. If you're mounting your turbo above the gearbox then mount it pretty high up, as I mounted mine a little low and have ended up having to fit a scavenge pump to speed up the flow of the oil returning to the sump. ...Luke. Ah, thanks for the heads up! Will make sure I monitor the oil flow! RE: The boosted 205 rat - pictures added (heavy) - ginge191 - 05-09-2016 So, update on this. It lives and runs - sounds absolutely spot on (apart from a squeaky aux belt) After faffing around with a new fuel pump after the previous one was no good...hooked it up, timed the engine up (thanks piggy for your method, worked the best) refitted starter motor, got the Mrs to crank whilst I bled the first injector and bam, it lived! Having flange made up for manifold at the moment, then will set about getting the turbo and intercooler mounted. Then get her on the road! Makes it sound all so easy..... I want dibs RE: The boosted 205 rat - pictures added (heavy) - ginge191 - 13-09-2016 Little bits done First adapter plate made , 2 to go. Suspension, shaft, etc fitted to N/S Awaiting on some bits in the post now; few bits from mr fish as I've found the caliper bolts are too long from the OEM brakes so need shorter bolts. And waiting on some oil from Opie which the courier has messed up. RE: The boosted 205 rat - pictures added (heavy) - ginge191 - 18-09-2016 Todays update. fitted rad, fans, all hoses - chucked some water in to make sure nothing was leaking and all water is holding which is positive. Suspension, shafts, droplinks etc fitted on both sides - both TRE's are nackered so cracked those both, ordered replacements. Also noticed, when fitting brakes - new bolts arrived but they're a fraction too long - thread is fine, but the thread on the hub doesn't go all the way through. I'll solve this with a 15mm spacer of some kind ... Anyway, pics First flange made and fitted, ready for movement of turbo: ![]() On stilts - can't wait to have it on it's wheels! ![]() a TIGHT fit - THIS is why I used the 205 oil cooler/filter setup. Also, notice the bodge on the fuel pump ![]() ![]() Slam panel, catch can, radiator, fan andengine in place ![]() C&C welcomed RE: The boosted 205 rat - pictures added (heavy) - Frosty - 18-09-2016 The threads WILL go all the way through. It's just with some brakes the bolts don't go all the way into the threads so the threads get dirty and then struggle to get the bolt to go all the way in. Best bet is to run a tap or thread chaser through the threads to clean them up then the bolt will go in fine. |
