What size is recommended, looking at 32gb, what will that hold video wise? Around 4.5 hrs in 1080p RE: Cheaper alternative to go pro? - lolsteve - 29-12-2015 As an alternative I have the mobius action cam. About £50-60 , very solid as it's taken some abuse and the the video quality is very good. Only downside is the lack of screen https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NW4AioWw41Y https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uh_RTtuiVY4 RE: Cheaper alternative to go pro? - Matt - 30-12-2015 That's a bargain! I'll get the Misses to order one RE: Cheaper alternative to go pro? - twangy - 30-12-2015 some real good info on here , as am also thinking of getting camera , so glad i looked now RE: Cheaper alternative to go pro? - Pgtips - 30-12-2015 (28-12-2015, 12:46 PM)Matt Wrote: im after a go pro. But without the price tag. I know you get what you pay for, I've seen some 1080p go pro style cameras for as little as £17. Obviously these are going to be shit and not worth the money at all. OOS RE: Cheaper alternative to go pro? - Eeyore - 30-12-2015 guys it worth noting that although the hero is cheap the SJ cam is probably better. The hero has a built in battery so you cant just swap them out. once its dead it needs charging which is going to be difficult when youre at a car show etc. Also I believe it is built into the waterproof casing so you cant get it out. Then remember that it only has 2 film modes. For the same price as an SJ id definitely get the SJ. RE: Cheaper alternative to go pro? - Matt - 09-01-2016 Right mine arrived! Camera is great video quality is all good. But sound... Is just terrible! I tried to use it for my online reviews and the sound quality is appealing, I'm sat a meter or so away from it and it sounds like I'm almost at a whisper. Anyone else experience this? RE: Cheaper alternative to go pro? - 1616six - 09-01-2016 Sound is never amazing on these little cams, can you use an aux mic? I have the sound off for my Dashcam RE: Cheaper alternative to go pro? - Matt - 09-01-2016 There isn't an aux input is there? There is micro usb but doubt that can be used RE: Cheaper alternative to go pro? - WiNgNuTz - 10-01-2016 Yeah, I must admit the sound isn't amazing, but like Jordan, I'm also recording without sound now, only really want the video, nobody else needs to hear me attempting to sing along to whatevers on the stereo. RE: Cheaper alternative to go pro? - Piggy - 10-01-2016 This with an SJ4000? RE: Cheaper alternative to go pro? - WiNgNuTz - 10-01-2016 (10-01-2016, 07:18 AM)Piggy Wrote: This with an SJ4000? In my case yes, and I believe Matt bought one as well. I have to admit, the sound isn't the worst I've ever heard...in fact it's considerably better than the last dashcam I used, but I would have expected it to have been a bit clearer than it is. Not a deal breaker for me though, as said, I'm not using it for sound anyway, so it doesn't bother me. RE: Cheaper alternative to go pro? - Piggy - 10-01-2016 I had an issue with the sound on mine and asked for a replacement... Replacement was fine. Ive used it in a number of my videos without quality issues RE: Cheaper alternative to go pro? - Matt - 11-01-2016 I had a few issues with video playback and getting files off as it wouldn't show on my Mac as a storage device so I've messaged the seller incase it's a faulty unit!
