Re: Cully's Electric car ..T project - samass - 10-05-2012 moving along quick with this! what's the power of that motor? Re: Cully's Electric car ..T project - cully - 10-05-2012 to be honest the motor isn't as powerful as id like but it should be powerful enough for 10mph the gearing i have chosen reduces the gearing of the Axel 20/1 back to 10/1 so it should be twice as fast from standard form, but with half the torque. as i couldn't stop the thing and it ran me over in standard form I'm quite confident it should pull my weight Re: Cully's Electric car ..T project - samass - 10-05-2012 thats not to bad, just less acc. haha, totally have this image of you being attacked by a vicious cart monster ![]() Re: Cully's Electric car ..T project - Dum-Dum - 10-05-2012 Good progress mate. Cully's Electric car ..T project - kentiiboii - 10-05-2012 You'd think he'd be carefully after all the accidents so far :p Re: Cully's Electric car ..T project - cully - 10-05-2012 been and measured up Ive got to make a swivelling motor mount bracket so i can tension the chains so Ive come up with this the blue bits are existing frame hollow tube on the cart the top orange u Ive made which mounts the motor, now Ive got to fabricate the lower fixing swivel then just join the two Re: Cully's Electric car ..T project - Ben Jay - 11-05-2012 with your batteries might it not be better getting hold of some li-ion ones?. My uni use them for their electric race car. want me to see where they get them from? Re: Cully's Electric car ..T project - Niall - 11-05-2012 Cully is it a 12 or 24v motor? What size batteries are you after? Re: Cully's Electric car ..T project - cully - 11-05-2012 it will be 24v volts i have my eye on some gell leads at the moment but what you thinking on Niall? fire alarm batts liions would be a bit over priced for this project but you never know in the evolution of the build Re: Cully's Electric car ..T project - Niall - 11-05-2012 cully Wrote:it will be 24v volts i have my eye on some gell leads at the moment Yeah the batts we use are suitable for deep cycle but gel batteries would be better for what you want. What sort of size are you after? At the moment all I've got is 7ahs and a few 12s which I know won't be ideal for you unless your planning on running 2 big banks of thrm Re: Cully's Electric car ..T project - Ben Jay - 11-05-2012 cully Wrote:it will be 24v volts i have my eye on some gell leads at the moment When i go back to uni in sept ill see what i can get for you! our leccy car is sponsored buy a li ion battery company cant remember which one though Re: Cully's Electric car ..T project - cully - 11-05-2012 think i have a pair of 21ah traction deep cycle gells or i might have 4 not quite sure yet Re: Cully's Electric car ..T project - Niall - 11-05-2012 cully Wrote:think i have a pair of 21ah traction deep cycle gells Spot on. What you using to charge them? I need something to charge the batts in one of my projects but I haven't got anything. Was thinking about using a car batt trickle charger but not sure if that would be ok? Re: Cully's Electric car ..T project - 4WayDiablo - 11-05-2012 is this going to be a mobility scooter for you to get around at fcs? ![]() Re: Cully's Electric car ..T project - cully - 12-05-2012 motor mount is comeing along well hope it looks like the drawing ![]() Re: Cully's Electric car ..T project - cully - 18-05-2012 quick update motor gearbox drive sprockets and chains are all fitted have connected it to a battery and it runs ![]() now to mount the motor controls batterys speed controllers and throttle linkage oh and the wiring EEEEK! Re: Cully's Electric car ..T project - cully - 19-05-2012 today has been busy as im on call but have managed to sort the throttle control linkage and pedal have also started building the dash controls maybe get some more pictures up tomorrow just for those interested ![]() Re: Cully's Electric car ..T project - samass - 19-05-2012 mucho interested, waiting on pics ![]() Re: Cully's Electric car ..T project - cully - 19-05-2012 pictures of dash and throttle controller the throttle controller works on a 0volt to 5 volt signal 0v is off 5v is full throttle this unit talks to the motor controller which converts the 0-5v to a motor speed Re: Cully's Electric car ..T project - samass - 19-05-2012 Nice. Im presuming that the throttle controller is incremental? Like its not just on or off right? The guys at my uni built an electric tt bike and the first time they tested it it was no power, or max power! ![]() Im sure you thought of that tho haha Re: Cully's Electric car ..T project - mark_airey - 19-05-2012 Looking good, your going to do yourself an injury again ![]() samass Wrote:Nice.
