RE: Lets talk hybrids - Niall - 07-06-2015

If i remember rightly, oiled filters such as K&Ns destroy the MAFs?

RE: Lets talk hybrids - dr_jekyll - 07-06-2015

Yeah believe so, tried running mine dry but its obv just let more crap in. Did genterly clean the maf with meths but no use.

RE: Lets talk hybrids - shervo - 07-06-2015

Aren't you using a ram air filter? They're un oiled anyway aren't they?

RE: Lets talk hybrids - dr_jekyll - 07-06-2015

Yeah a ramair but they arrive dry. Meant to oil it yourself. Any recomendations of filters to look at guys?

RE: Lets talk hybrids - shervo - 07-06-2015

Probably why my maf is dead too then. As far as I know most people say the standard airbox with a panel filter is best.

RE: Lets talk hybrids - dr_jekyll - 07-06-2015

Yeah i know, hate the look of those things though but best for a cold feed too. Somthing similar to a cda enclosed be any good?

RE: Lets talk hybrids - shervo - 07-06-2015

Not sure, I was toying with the idea of an s2000 filter and then custom make a heatshield and sit it where the battery would be. But not sure if it is worth it.

RE: Lets talk hybrids - Jonny81191 - 07-06-2015

Standard filter.

RE: Lets talk hybrids - dr_jekyll - 07-06-2015

Deffo somthing to look into, got alot to sort now after fcs. Made me realise just how mad the stretch is on the rear of mine so ditching that and removing the wheel poke. Roller bearing went on a pbush on the way home so now having to msg lynx to see if they do replacments, also feeling that i need to look at my brakes in abit more detail and consider somthing more powerful like brembos and need to have a good look at the rear beam as its knocking. Hoping its just bushes as i have no camber.

But yeah so turbo and more powers gonna have to wait. Need to fix whats broke first and further improve the stopping before dragging more power out

Like that idea! Would be tempted to pipe it down to a fog and try hide it up

RE: Lets talk hybrids - 306clot - 08-06-2015

That filter is just a generic eBay cheepie for about £20-30 you probs can find it cheaper, personally I have mounted it there as I would be concerned about drawing up water

Just a case of wether or not the filter is good enough for the maf

I'd be surprised if it's suitable. I'll say it again although no doubt I'll be ignored. Fit the standard filter.

Dude if your gonna bitch just dont comment.

RE: Lets talk hybrids - Jonny81191 - 08-06-2015

I'm not bitching, just stating my point again as it had clearly been missed/ignored. The standard filter will be fine for stage 2, your restrictions will be elsewhere.

RE: Lets talk hybrids - 306clot - 08-06-2015

I'm not saying a standard filter isn't good enough, however I didn't have one when I first had the car and that's why I ha e what I do, and the person in. Question was just asking for options, that's all I'm doing

RE: Lets talk hybrids - cully - 09-06-2015

aftermarket airfilters are a known problem for killing mafs on the HDI
people here have done it and proved this point

More of the space issue with the standard airbox for me, trying to strip stuff out to smooth the bay off eventually :/ must be somthing out there as good as the oem filter with a panel

RE: Lets talk hybrids - deggerz - 09-06-2015

A hybrid isnt for big big power thats true, but its the easiest option tbh, and whos charging 4-500 quid to hybridise a turbo? Your getting dry bummed at that sort of money,
