The service was spot on, couldn't of been more helpful and considering the price, the quality of work and attention to detail is very good. My car now drives like a brand new car and it was on its original 81k axle so hardly a old one! I fully recommend getting a new axle even if you don't have camber or noises. You don't realise the difference until you fit one! RE: Stef's budget beam builds - Orta - 08-05-2015 Can the beams be set ready lowered? RE: Stef's budget beam builds - Stef205 - 08-05-2015 Of course per my post earlier they are set to your requirement RE: Stef's budget beam builds - 306Dan - 08-05-2015 I'll be in touch soon as I never seem to get time to do my own ![]() RE: Stef's budget beam builds - Connor - 08-05-2015 Would I be able to bring a beam down and pick up a ready made one? I am from north wales, where are you based?? ball park figures for now please... RE: Stef's budget beam builds - Stef205 - 12-06-2015 Im based in lyme regis, dorset. Im afraid i dont have the time to fit a axle as ive so much work on and the workshop is always full of cars so i dont have the room atm. This is how i keep my prices low as its just a collect and exchange basis. Price really depends on which service you require. A budget build consists of all new bearings seals shafts and rebuilt they are £220 on a supplied unit as stated in my first post. My top builds consist of heavily derusted parts, painted in oem colours in a hard wearing paint, New bearings, seals, shafts, arb bushes and seals, all new bolts inc shock bolts they are £280 and both are set to your required height. RE: Stef's budget beam builds - Ben_w - 14-06-2015 Stef, I would send you a PM but I don't think I've enough posts to do so yet...... Couple of questions if I may. Just stripping and rebuilding a beam. Using it as a learning experience really. Beam is apart, everything has been blasted clean, I've marked the torsion bars as to which is which etc. First question is how to tell if the tube is knackered? Both out and inner bearings on both sides were in reasonable shape with neither having worn through the outer shells and worn the tube. Outer bearing seats looking like this... ![]() Over question is what are the OEM colours (I.e I know they are yellow, red and black but do they have names?) and which paint do you use? Is paint preferable to powder coating? Last question really is do you have the SNR bearing numbers for the inners and outers? Wondering if its cheaper to get the bearings via a specialist bearing supplier rather than Peugeot? Thanks, Ben RE: Stef's budget beam builds - Stef205 - 14-06-2015 It hard for me to give a comment on condition with out having it in hand tbh, I normally take extra note when removing them as im sure you took note on there depths and how easily they were removed. You can powder coat if you wish i personally dont as then this cost has to be past on and from experience customers and i cant warrant that extra spend. The paint i use is a personal mix so i dont give it out its made from trial and errors through out my time doing them. Part numbers are easily enough to find online or even from cross referencing other brands. Just remember you pay for what you get and this in mind this is why i only use one supplier as their products give me and my customers the confidence that is needed. Stef Stef's beam builds:- potential group buy? - Stef205 - 26-07-2015 Im thinking about setting up a potential group buy for some axle builds. I will offer a further discount should this happen and this will apply to my full builds or budget builds. For this to happen im looking at 5 or more axles prices will be £260 for my top rebuilds and the budgets im willing to do at £200. I know a few of you have asked about them in general and ive now sorted stuff out and now can continue with them. I would like them all at once this is the only way i can drive down the price due to my ordering with my supplier. All info is in my previous posts and any questions please ask away. RE: Stef's budget beam builds - Connor - 26-07-2015 Just to add these beam rebuilds are spot on, after fitting mine (and some front wishbone bushes) I chucked mine on the hunter alignment we have at work and all the angles were spot on RE: Stef's budget beam builds - Stef205 - 27-07-2015 (26-07-2015, 09:54 PM)Connor Wrote: Just to add these beam rebuilds are spot on, after fitting mine (and some front wishbone bushes) I chucked mine on the hunter alignment we have at work and all the angles were spot on Thanks for the feedback connor glad everything is ok! RE: Stef's budget beam builds - Niall - 27-07-2015 Sorry I've got to say this but... They're crap. Not put together properly, painting was done by Stevie Wonder, beam is sagging more and more day by day and I'm doubtful if the bearings have even been changed. I joke, quality product and very good value for money. My old beam was fine really but i wanted it replacing before it started to give in. Even though it was fine, fitting the new one has transformed the way the car drives and I'm sure the MOT tester will love seeing a nice shiny rear axle lol RE: Stef's budget beam builds - Stef205 - 27-07-2015 (27-07-2015, 06:25 PM)Niall Wrote: Sorry I've got to say this but... no one cares what you think ![]() In all honestly im glad its ok gets a hard life sat on your drive! ![]() RE: Stef's budget beam builds - Craig Giblett - 13-08-2015 (08-05-2015, 01:13 PM)Stef205 Wrote: just bumping this up for anyone thats interested. RE: Stef's budget beam builds - Stef205 - 13-08-2015 The turn around is a while atm im extremely snowned under with them atm. I prefer collection on these for the exchange and this allows me to swap over the necessary parts from the old unit. RE: Stef's budget beam builds - Stef205 - 31-08-2015 Just a quick bump on this. I will have a gti6 axle available soon with 21mm torsion bars and built per my top spec and will be set at a nice -30mm drop (unless buyer states other wise). This will be a exchange unit only and will be £400. Any question please ask. Stef ![]() RE: Stef's budget beam builds - Matt - 05-09-2015 Right after reading all this I'm definatley interested in getting one of these! So how does this work? Can I just buy one from you? Or do you need one in return? Just trying to keep my costs down as I'm running out of cash for my build haha RE: Stef's budget beam builds - Stef205 - 05-09-2015 They are on return unless you supply one. I do try keep my prices down and low for these exact reasons. RE: Stef's budget beam builds - Matt - 05-09-2015 That's cool man, so I buy one from you and you sort the courier? I have sent you a pm ![]() Stef's beam builds Group buy? - Stef205 - 23-10-2015 Ive been thinking about a potential group buy on my builds, This would apply to both services and i would be looking at a minimum of 5 axles. Postage back is available with the price steadying around £40. For my top builds i would be offering this at £250 and for my budget builds i would be offering this at £185. Both are fitted with genuine parts and set to your required height. This is a potential saving of around £30 over my standard pricing. Any questions please ask. Stef ![]() RE: Stef's beam builds Group buy? - aaron_one - 23-10-2015 I'd be interested in one in the new year when I have a bit of money spare. However I'd have to work out how to get the beam off my car and to you etc, as I haven't got anywhere really to work on the car round my way. I'm sure I could find some way though. Definitely need a rear beam sorting though, it's shot |
