Check for air ingress into the fuel system as well, is a common problem.

RE: Petty in veg - Chris_90 - 28-10-2013

So what's the down sides to putting to much petrol in Veg Oil???

RE: Petty in veg - Piggy - 28-10-2013

that a diesel engine is not designed to run on petrol!!!

RE: Petty in veg - Anton - 28-10-2013

Personally don't go over 10%, normally 5% is sufficient.

Thanks I'm running it at 10% now so won't go over that, it's only the first start I have issue with looking at haveing a small tank for derv and twin tank it so start on derv and switch to Veg oil, but struggling to find an electronic 3 way valve to switch Fuel, any one no we're I can get one from?

you don't need to do that mate, your problem lies elsewhere . . Smile

RE: Petty in veg - Piggy - 28-10-2013

yeah thats waaaaaaay too much hassle for really no gains.

just get the mix right/decent oil.

Mine started bang on every morning last year all through that snow, and that was 90% veg and 10% diesel as I had a load of diesel given me in jerrys.

But I had sorted all the little air ingress places and sorted decent plugs n battery. 2/3turns of the engine and away with a little chuckle to itself for 10/15seconds then fine.

RE: Petty in veg - Chris_90 - 28-10-2013

I will have to see how it goes when it's colder. Last winter in d turbo I put 13 liters of derv in a full tank of veg and it was ok, but I was having issues a few weeks ago so had to start mixing petrol and it's been ok since. See what it's like when it's colder
