Re: Removing top engine mount help! - Foxy-jim - 29-02-2012 Right...seeing as it is pretty sunny today I thought I would go about changing my top engine mount. I jacked up the engine removed the arm and buffer so the mount was there. Used a flat head screwdriver and placed it on one of the little recess bits and tried then hammered it to move it so that it would undo... ...it didnt undo!!! It just started cutting into the rubber. I moved the screwdriver down to get a better angle and it still did the same. Help please! Re: Removing top engine mount help! - Jake - 29-02-2012 If all else fails , get a blow torch on the old one ! Re: Removing top engine mount help! - Foxy-jim - 29-02-2012 How will that help? Haha. Re: Removing top engine mount help! - samass - 29-02-2012 fire. fixes everything that a hammer won't. Re: Removing top engine mount help! - Foxy-jim - 29-02-2012 Haha ok thanks for the info! I will get burning! Re: Removing top engine mount help! - samass - 29-02-2012 haha just be careful, if you're anything like me, you might set yourself, or your surroundings on fire! come to think of it, aren't the fuel lines round there...? maybe not totally sound advice... Re: Removing top engine mount help! - Foxy-jim - 29-02-2012 Ye its pretty near my fuel rail etc haha. Re: Removing top engine mount help! - samass - 29-02-2012 haha yeah... maybe don't use a blowtorch haha Re: Removing top engine mount help! - samass - 29-02-2012 should really edit my other post: fire. fixes everything that a hammer won't. unless its near firey, explosive things... or in my hands Re: Removing top engine mount help! - Jake - 29-02-2012 Foxy-jim Wrote:Ye its pretty near my fuel rail etc haha. Will be fine ... crack on. I take no responsibly for any consequences of said actions and do not recommend you to do as I have said Re: Removing top engine mount help! - Foxy-jim - 29-02-2012 I may give this a go at some point. May get my dad to give me a hand as I don't trust myself! Haha. Re: Removing top engine mount help! - Dum-Dum - 01-03-2012 Bigger hammer mate (and make sure your screwing anti clockwise) Re: Removing top engine mount help! - Poodle - 01-03-2012 Hold the screwdriver at a steeper angle to make sure it bites properly. Have you tried my suggestion of hitting against the metal base..? Re: Removing top engine mount help! - Foxy-jim - 01-03-2012 Ye I was hitting it the right way round and ye I tried hitting the bottom of it. Re: Removing top engine mount help! - Poodle - 02-03-2012 Tried a chain/strap wrench or oil filter tool? Re: Removing top engine mount help! - Foxy-jim - 02-03-2012 Nope don't have those tools haha. Re: Removing top engine mount help! - mark_airey - 02-03-2012 Foxy-jim Wrote:I have tried to hammer it etc but it wouldn't move! Your clearly not doing it right then Have you sprayed lots of WD40 under/around the bottom of the mount and left it to soak in for a while, if you have then hit it harder :geek: Re: Removing top engine mount help! - Foxy-jim - 02-03-2012 I will whack a load of wd40 in there later!
