What about 106 gti engine camed and boosted? Kick out around 250bhp! Re: Track car advice - Moonstone2.0 - 10-02-2012 or buy it prebuilt http://www.gumtree.com/p/cars-vans-motorbikes/peugeot-205-16-gti-full-challenge-spec-rally-car-msa-log-booked-spares-ready-to-rally/95626747 Re: Track car advice - hbomb1905 - 10-02-2012 Something with a bit of the above would be nice! Track car advice - Jonny b - 10-02-2012 Foxy-jim Wrote:Redtop nova is a great shout! But the handling is no where near as good as a 205, my mate Kelly's red top corsa was under steer city Re: Track car advice - Foxy-jim - 10-02-2012 Could you not drop the engine in a 205? Re: Track car advice - THE_Liam - 10-02-2012 Jonny b Wrote:Foxy-jim Wrote:Redtop nova is a great shout! You can make a Nova handle, but you need to chuck a lot of money at them. My mates got a GTE and that's not bad but he's spent a lot Track car advice - Jonny b - 10-02-2012 Foxy-jim Wrote:Could you not drop the engine in a 205? Why though it's a lot of work when you can drop a mi16 or gti6 pretty much straight in Re: Track car advice - Foxy-jim - 10-02-2012 Suppose so. Would be different though. Re: Track car advice - THE_Liam - 10-02-2012 There was a guy ages ago on .net who dropped a C20LET into a 306, that was pretty mental... Track car advice - Jonny b - 10-02-2012 Yeh a black ph1 iirc was most defo awesome Re: Track car advice - procta - 10-02-2012 dan what about a certain red car i own Re: Track car advice - stevobeavo - 11-02-2012 procta Wrote:dan what about a certain red car i own Rover 100 My mates redtop Nova is like a little go kart. Re: Track car advice - mark_airey - 13-02-2012 ^^ I'm pretty sure he means the car Liam, I remember a breaking thread worth more in pieces and all that! Bad times! Re: Track car advice - procta - 13-02-2012 i think the novas are long gone up here now sadly. i remember that c20LET 306, i think it was about 450 bhp? tbh dan, you need another 205 in your life! Re: Track car advice - Ruan - 15-02-2012 The 306 with the LET in wasn't anything like that, it was late 200s, like 280 or so... 205, big blower XUD9 conversion, some suspension mods, handle better than the 328i, you can't go sideways on trackdays - you'll get kicked off, you know the 205 inside out, it'll be a LOT faster than a 328i, use less fuel, handle better for naff all money, be more WTF'esque, unless you've driven a big turbo XUD9 then you won't know what they're like... Admittedly you'll need to work on the cooling side of the XUD9 in the 205, decent radiator, oil cooler, front mount... Done the right way, it'll be an awesome car... Re: Track car advice - Rippthrough - 15-02-2012 You're not going to hit 140mph on many tracks with that little power anyway. And on the ones you can, you're not going hit it more than once, perhaps twice per lap. However, there's a lot of corners, and you have to go around them all.... The only time not having enough power gets annoying is when you get stuck behind some arse who trickles around the corners and then plants it to stop you coming past on the straight, but it's a trackday, not a race, so just back off for a lap. Then hit him with the tyre iron in the pits. |
