If you do this again next year, don't try it later! From May to September everything will be full of bloody tourists driving 30mph on the funniest roads.
Trust me, i speak from experience, it has already started where I live.

RE: Official Nurburgring and Europe Thread - cully - 20-04-2013

can someone explain what happened to jonnys car?
i can see a shredded aux belt and the cambelt making a bid for freedom did he have a broken rocker which caused this?

some nice pictures there guys to go with a very memorable trip

Re: Official Nurburgring and Europe Thread - rocker8742 - 20-04-2013

Theyve been round the nurburgring Sam nuremburg is miles away from the ring Wink

Cully the aux belt shredded and caused the cambelt to slip which broke the lifters? I think.
im sure someone can explain it better

From what i understand, we had issues with a cambelt creeping, but we reckon we solved that.

Unfortunately, out of no-where the aux belt decided it no longer liked its home and shat itself, taking out the cambelt, which smashed the rockers.

More could be broken, but i'm sure jonny will put up a full investigation thread when he takes it all to bits.. not in a campsite.

RE: Official Nurburgring and Europe Thread - martyn92 - 20-04-2013

The cambelt was definatly running off and you can tell by the covers its happend over a period of time and not from the instant it let go. The thing is the aux belt didn't snap in half it somehow got wrapped underneath the cambelt.
I think Jonny said it had a new belt and tensioner etc not long ago so I don't see why the belt would just partly disintegrate 2 ribs of the belt.
But yes the aux belt made its way under the cambelt which destroyed the rockers Sad
