Mate that truly sucks, your lucky not to have a load of tasty bits of deer slowly cooking stuck to your engine bay and underside of your car.

Last animal i hit was on the A27 too as it happens. Pigeon at 80mph, thought it was gonna come through the windscreen.

I hit two pheasants at the same time on a country road at 60 last year in the skoda. i did consider stopping and picking them up for dinner but didnt have anything to put them in.

Sure the feathers were still stuck in the grill and plate when it went back last month lol

Pretty sure your not supposed to pick up road kill you've killed your self, but the person behind you can.
Might even be some legal thing behind that but I can't remember the details, just something I seem to remember my policeman friend telling me

Yea it's something to do with people aiming at livestock on purpose. But also I think that's an American law.

Not sure though.

RE: Absoloutely gutted. - Dum-Dum - 25-02-2013

Yeah but if you run over a cow at least you know its beef for dinner and not horse.

Correct. when i used to be a grounds keeper on a estate in weybridge, we hit a lot of them (actually had a burial pile on the go at one point!) and we were only allowed to move them strictly for safety and burying only.

Sounds like a cool job, I've always fancied being a groundskeeper or gamekeeper

RE: Absoloutely gutted. - ozonehostile - 27-02-2013

i know the gamekeeper for the estate that my house is on, he was telling me about how annoyed he was that someone had ran over about 30 pheasants in one go , worth several hundred pounds.

didnt tell him it was me....

No it was shit. It was for a very very posh estate. Lots of famous and seriously rich there and they all used to look down at you like you were scum.
