RE: Matts rallye project - Niall - 21-10-2012

Did you take it for a drive like that? We drive my old car like that. Hard cornering is interesting!

RE: Matts rallye project - puglove - 21-10-2012

Just need to loose the rest of the removable pannels now. Then out with the angel grinnder

RE: Matts rallye project - Matt - 21-10-2012

We were gunna take it for a drive, but looked like it was going to rain and really needed to put the doors back on

RE: Matts rallye project - samass - 21-10-2012

dude, clean your f*cking wheels you dirty bastard

RE: Matts rallye project - Matt - 22-10-2012

Haha f*ck you!

Nah will get a clean on Wednesday. Maybe a wax and polish if I'm feeling it

RE: Matts rallye project - Matt - 03-11-2012

Progress finally!!!!

Right today, drive to curts. Just intending to pick up my door looms.
Ended up with the engine in bits.

Started off with changing the map sensor, had a look in the hole and it was gunky. Decided it give the manifold a little clean up.
Treated it too a litre of petrol inside gave it a slosh around and what not and then emptied and did what was necsesary and set it on fire hahah.
Repeat around 5 times and nice clean inside Smile
Decided while I was at it, gave the throttle body the same treatment, also cleaned up the icv, sanded the faces as the surface of the inlet was disgusting, cleaned resonator box and the. Reassembled.
Also changed the fuel filter and the fuel inside came out black.......

Anyway all back together in 3 hours. Starts on first turn, idles beaut!
Well Impressed with myself Smile

Next stop,

Rallye blanks
Tow strap
Clean car

RE: Matts rallye project - samass - 03-11-2012

You forgot bodies of that list of to do...
glad you sorted out the idle now, running nicer?

RE: Matts rallye project - Niall - 03-11-2012

You are the biggest bell end i know! You was going to go through the trouble of fitting a new engine just because the Map could of been dirty and your fuel filter was clearly fooked!

RE: Matts rallye project - Matt - 03-11-2012

Hahaa f*ck you!!!!
There was a lot more plus I want a new engine for rebuilding.

2.1 and turbo what?

RE: Matts rallye project - Niall - 03-11-2012

1.8gtihybridturbowhat?

RE: Matts rallye project - Matt - 03-11-2012

Hahaha yeah man, tbf your more likely to finish yours Tongue

My projects seem to start and never finish, like this bloody Rallye
Never sorted.

Although I would really like to throttle body at some point, just for the noise, not too fused about the gains. Tempted to stick the some r1s on. But I really wanna get jenveys lol

RE: Matts rallye project - Curt - 03-11-2012

Good day today, made some good progress too Smile. With fairly little injury lol which is surprising.

Matt cleaning his inlet in a typically sophisticated manor:

RE: Matts rallye project - Matt - 03-11-2012

Haha more progress will be made when I have more money!

Let me know when you working on it and you know I'll be there Smile

RE: Matts rallye project - Matt - 04-11-2012

Boom! Balance is restored, driving to work this morning. 30mph on a country road (strange for me I know) round a tight 90 degree corner and whammy! Right into a foot of flood, there was no way I could have seen it. The bend was turning right, single track, I know the road and there is not a dip in the road or anything. Just a foot of flood that lasted about 25 meters.

So I was already doing 30 when I hit, nice big splash up the sides, nothing over the bonnet! (result! I thought) battery light comes on, aux starting screaming, standard really.

I get out drive a bit and she feels real roughy, white smoke pouring out the back, clutch is gritty and engine tapping and squealing like mad.

Carried on driving, it's only water right car dry that out, about a mile and the white smoke stops, seems to be running a little better. Clutch is still gritty. And a rather tappy tap.

Going to grap oil and gearbox oil from pug tomorrow and give it a service.

Bloody thing always something wrong

RE: Matts rallye project - samass - 04-11-2012

Fucks sake dude! Do what we did before, and move your goddamn filter! Tard :p

Matts rallye project - Phil B - 04-11-2012

Sounds like a touch of aqua lock!!(but not the deadly amount!!) Best be carefully, if there's been enough water in there you may have tweaked a valve hence the tapping which may in turn end up asa snapped one and bouncy bounce round the bore, get a second opinion and get the head off if that might be the case Wink

RE: Matts rallye project - Scott - 04-11-2012

That's really bad luck mate Sad Fingers crossed there's no major damage!

RE: Matts rallye project - Jonny81191 - 04-11-2012

Hope there's nothing major wrong Sad Might be worth lifting the head and having a gander though..

RE: Matts rallye project - Matt - 04-11-2012

No way I'm getting the head off anytime soon by myself. It's running absolutely fine apart the the tap. Although I don't know if it's really there or I'm really paranoid. Yeah Sam I'll definatley be doing that after work today. Finishing at 6 though so will be dark. Ffs

Either way I'm looking at getting a spare engine too rebuild for lols. And it will end up in the Rallye at some point. Just got to work out what timescale I have, as to wether its going in sooner then I planned lol

RE: Matts rallye project - Poodle - 04-11-2012

Don't know how you manage this dude, really don't, your luck is worse than mine!

RE: Matts rallye project - Matt - 04-11-2012

Haha I know man, definatley wasn't doing anything stupid this time. Pure accident. Makes me feel better.
Hate it when I break it because of my stupidity

RE: Matts rallye project - Matt - 04-11-2012

Had a quick check with a screw driver it's making a lot of noise just too the right of the 16v badge Sad

Re: Matts rallye project - Alee83 - 04-11-2012

Valve tapping...! Uh oh.... Sad

RE: Matts rallye project - Matt - 04-11-2012

Right, induction kit off an drying.
Had the coils and sparks out, bit of wd40 in there and cranked for a few mins.
Put it all back together apart from the induction kit, starts up better but obviously idle was shit as icv was unrestricted, hunted slightly.

The tapping sounds has reduced slightly, going to pick up some oil and a oil filter, drain all the oil out and hopefully any water will come with it.

Same for the gearbox oil that will be drain and replaced.

RE: Matts rallye project - Matt - 07-11-2012

Sounds f*cking porno!!!

[Image: 7ADD6E38-A2BC-4E16-B930-D10516AF6C8A-410...FEF673.jpg]

Hangs a little low though due to incorrect fittings.

Futures,

Sort the chronic tap
Sort the whining gearbox (supercharger Wink )
Fit lower brace and k&n as soon as I receive.

The future for this is always going to be a track weapon, I put it back together as a comfy cruiser until next season as I see no way I'll be on track before then.
Plus she's coming of the road at the end of this month Sad

RE: Matts rallye project - Curt - 07-11-2012

Blimey, didn't realise the rear seats went back in too! Gonna put some cards on for the time being too?

Looks awesome though, and a lot cleaner than Saturday lol. Will look sweeet when we get the mop on it Smile

RE: Matts rallye project - Matt - 07-11-2012
