Absolutely in love RE: Hunter continued with a td04! - Tom - 01-07-2013 ![]() Finally got a leash on the boost! Time to get some actual tuning underway! Hunter continued with a td04! - Stephen - 04-07-2013 What psi you boosting? RE: Hunter continued with a td04! - Tom - 04-07-2013 14 atm coaling everywhere. Had a cashflow problem this week, running on veg fumes with a blocked to shit fuel filter. In other news, almost certain i've lifted the head/headgaskets gone and i might have blown the heater matrix i replaced 6months ago, so major engine work on the cards next week now. Just desperately need some hdi rods by then because i dont want to strip it down twice! Arrrgghhh. RE: Hunter continued with a td04! - Midnightclub - 05-07-2013 There's a set of HDi rods in the for sale section for like £20 i swear? RE: Hunter continued with a td04! - ginge191 - 05-07-2013 Yeh; max is selling them RE: Hunter continued with a td04! - Tom - 05-07-2013 Piggy was in there first so being fair to him, if he doesnt have them i have said i deffo NEED them for next week. RE: Hunter continued with a td04! - Tom - 05-07-2013 Bloody car ![]() RE: Hunter continued with a td04! - Tom - 06-07-2013 Right made a start on the headgasket/rod change/heater matrix job. Got called into work yesturday so spent all morning working which was gay, by the time i got into the garage and actually started it was around 2/3 ![]() So today i got the manifolds off took the cambelt covers off, watched Darrens videos to figure out the tensioner then couldnt find the flywheel hole :/ So all in all not alot done today :/ Few pics of stuff... ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() That is all. Getting really fed up aswell, looking at other cars on the bay :/ RE: Hunter continued with a td04! - ginge191 - 06-07-2013 Sell it back to me for scrap value. Kthanksbye RE: Hunter continued with a td04! - strictly_perv - 06-07-2013 I've just done a head change on mine. Be sure to remove the stay housing and the top engine mount but which bolts onto the head and block. The bolts are fiddly though. It's really not too hard a job so don't be too put off by it. Good luck Hunter continued with a td04! - Frosty - 06-07-2013 Don't give up with it! When you get it all sorted and finished you will be glad you fix it and will fall back in love with it! It's the joys of 306 ownership!! RE: Hunter continued with a td04! - Tom - 06-07-2013 Thanks guys, hopefully when i get back to it monday i'll be feeling the love and wanting to crack on! RE: Hunter continued with a td04! - cwspellowe - 06-07-2013 Yeah, headgaskets can seem complicated but they're not really. They can be done pretty quickly with practice too. The only bit I felt iffy about was dropping the head back on, afraid i was going to damage the mating face or smash a valve. Crack on with it, few hours will see you good, then you'll be loving it ![]() RE: Hunter continued with a td04! - Tom - 06-07-2013 Its getting hdi rods this week aswell, i'll be pretty confident in its reliability then, might get a bit skimmed off the pistons aswell to bring the cylinder pressures down a bit, not sure yet. RE: Hunter continued with a td04! - puglove - 06-07-2013 I had the above PAS pump issue , but the removal of mine was much easier, well it looked easier when I seen it bouncing down the road in my rear view any way lol RE: Hunter continued with a td04! - Tom - 07-07-2013 (06-07-2013, 09:34 PM)puglove Wrote: I had the above PAS pump issue , but the removal of mine was much easier, well it looked easier when I seen it bouncing down the road in my rear view any way lol HAHA! Thats cool man, I atleast had to remove the bolts :/ RE: Hunter continued with a td04! - Tom - 12-07-2013 Might aswell update this, will just bullet point the main things because i cba with a huge paragraph! Got the old head off, turns out i broke it so needed new. Bought a second hand engine cheap, took the head off sent it to machine shop. Should get the head back today hopefully. New gasket and bolts and new headset, the machine shop are rebuilding the head aswell so they will replace all the seals in there! Very disappointed in someone on here who promised to send me rods on monday and didnt even send them til thursday so now im stuck waiting! So if they dont show up today i doubt they be delivered on a saturday so that means i will of had to wait a week for them which isnt cool. Couple pics here to show what state the car is in atm! ![]() ![]() Also it is so easy to strip down a bare engine rather than an engine thats in the car! ![]() That is all for now! Any members are welcome to come and aid putting it back together! RE: Hunter continued with a td04! - ginge191 - 12-07-2013 Looking very sory for itself. Should be worth it once it's all back together ![]() also; who did you buy the rods from out of interest? |
