Opinions please! - cully - 25-08-2016 thoughts? Nissan x-trail Nissan Terrano will be used for towing 306 pros cons experience or problems RE: Opinions please! - 306carter - 25-08-2016 Kia Sorento is similar money and from what I've been told a brilliant tow car. RE: Opinions please! - bashbarnard - 25-08-2016 terrano. i have no real reason apart from the fact i prefer them RE: Opinions please! - welshpug - 25-08-2016 none of the above. BMW saab or Volvo estate. RE: Opinions please! - cully - 25-08-2016 (25-08-2016, 08:16 PM)welshpug Wrote: none of the above. think these would be to close to the weight limits for towing RE: Opinions please! - Ben_w - 25-08-2016 Bit older but a Nissan Patrol or a Toyota Landcruiser RE: Opinions please! - welshpug - 25-08-2016 5 series can do 2 ton. 306 is 1200kg max, good 2 axle trailer is 400kg. pointless buying a 4x4 especially thpse fauxby4's. RE: Opinions please! - Piggy - 25-08-2016 Mitsi shogun/warrier thingys are far better than their jap friend alternatives (25-08-2016, 08:02 PM)306carter Wrote: Kia Sorento is similar money and from what I've been told a brilliant tow car. Yeah they have a crazy high tow weight actually... Look out for timing chain issues though RE: Opinions please! - welshpug - 25-08-2016 v70 and 9-5 will each do 1800 kg. RE: Opinions please! - toseland - 26-08-2016 landrover for towing, one of the few that is rated and can tow 3500kg.. RE: Opinions please! - Piggy - 26-08-2016 (26-08-2016, 02:19 AM)toseland Wrote: landrover for towing, one of the few that is rated and can tow 3500kg.. Think that Kiais too funny enough... Which suprised me. RE: Opinions please! - ginge191 - 26-08-2016 Use an xtrail at the moment to tow a horse (15.3 cob) and trailer, and has never let down; , dry , wet, hills. Well value for money. RE: Opinions please! - Dum-Dum - 26-08-2016 The x trail is a bit of a soft roader. I've got a mate with a terrano and its solid and reliable with decent power and a proper low range box. RE: Opinions please! - Eeyore - 26-08-2016 i would look at estates that can tow it. I presume if youre putting it on a trailer youre going to make it more of a track car which means you need a family car as well? RE: Opinions please! - Toms306 - 26-08-2016 He already has a family car... He's reached Mondeo age. RE: Opinions please! - cully - 26-08-2016 yes it will be for towing to track days as ive now done the local tracks family car is not essential as the wife has a car that can take that role i may even consider a Van like a vivaro or similar that can be half converted to sleep in while away hmm its all up in the air ATM just fealing around to se whats what licence wise is not a problem as i have B+E C1 C1+E (not more than 8,250 kg) D1 D1+E RE: Opinions please! - mr_fish - 26-08-2016 van would be a good shout...expect you would be easily rack it out to a mini mobile workshop and spares store for the track days RE: Opinions please! - Ruan - 26-08-2016 XC90 is 2250kg braked and is bloody good for a monocoque. Nothing will tow like a body-on-frame i.e. Disco/Defender tho... Vans you've gotta be so careful with GTW vs GVW - often can't put naff all in them when you're getting close to GTW due to a high towed weight. Isuzu Rodeo is body on frame and supposedly quite good. RE: Opinions please! - 1616six - 26-08-2016 Beavertail FTW. Make some money on the side too and not have to worry about the pain in the arse side of towing a trailer. I'm a huge fan of vans but on the other hand remember the speed limits on commercial vehicles, that was my biggest annoyance of driving a van for a living. When you're not towing do you really want to be conscious that if you go over 50 on an A road you're gonna pick up 3 points? Avoid warriors, their engines are shite. RE: Opinions please! - welshpug - 26-08-2016 Izuzu is poo, shocking rear damping/spring combo, crap auto box, turbos that come off the engine, axles that self destruct but at least they dont snap in half like a navara. RE: Opinions please! - Dum-Dum - 26-08-2016 Check the towing weights on vans, alot of the modern stuff is FWD so has shit towing weights. Have you considered a Motorhome to tow with. It gives you alot more possibilities and if it has an awning on the side that gives you your own pit garage. RE: Opinions please! - welshpug - 26-08-2016 motorhomes are even worse than vans for towing weights, so much wood and tat on them and a lot have extended frames and cant tow at all. RE: Opinions please! - cully - 26-08-2016 Motor homes are in another price league no way I could afford one of them without looking like a traveller turning up on a carpark RE: Opinions please! - Dum-Dum - 26-08-2016 Surely this is the sensible option. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/RENAULT-MAGNUM-6-BERTH-RACE-TRUCK-/252503921903?hash=item3aca6814ef:g:Jc8AAOSwIgNXtHF- RE: Opinions please! - welshpug - 26-08-2016 if it had a space for a car maybe. Or a 5-series as suggested by welshpug, even the petrol ones will do better mpg than a 4x4. RE: Opinions please! - Seb_Ryan - 26-08-2016 Mondeo, vectras, 95s etc are all 1800.. Terrano are about 2700 i think, there is a 4x4 that can tow 3500 i think it may be a shogun? Sent from my LG-H850 using Tapatalk RE: Opinions please! - cully - 26-08-2016 umm so you saying my mondeo may tow it? RE: Opinions please! - welshpug - 26-08-2016 probably, depends what you have.
