You can put all the theft deterrence you like on your car, the thieves will just break into your house and threaten you with violence if you don't hand over the keys.

That is highly unlikely for a defender!
It's to do with the police putting more effort into investigating serious crimes thus increasing the chance of getting caught.
The fact that an aggravated burglary carries a much more substantial prison sentence compared to a simple theft of a vehicle.
And the fact that to do a decent aggravated burglary you need a minimum of 4 people all of whom need their cut of the profits compared to 1 or 2 just to steal the car on it's own.

well lads, after driving this for nearly two weeks as a daily, and jumping back in the 306. The defender really does make the 306 as small as the metro was. Weird driving the 306 again!  Now i know why my dad says getting into the 306 is like a dinky toy! The 306 is like the vvc metro now compared to the landy!
But I am loving the landy and took the longest runs home just to get to know her a little better,
Answer to dum dums question, on the 1st page. There are a few jobs that have come to light, steering, brakes, bearing wise and possible suspension.  The dealer said that they sorted the sticky brake but we are starting to think they never bothered their arse, or if they did the fault has returned. But then again i have dropped a few miles on her since i got her. So those are going to be sorted after new year,
MPG wise its not that far off the HDI which is good going for a 2.5 2 ton 4x4.
Got to say this for it, it drives like a BOSS!
So procta lives for the Defender!! Smile

Something to look into mate i been reading up on is SKYTAG gps trackers. Certain insurers even offer them free with their policies. Smile well thought of in landy circles.

yeah true matt, i am looking at fitting as much security stuff as possible just to make life that bit harder for the lady gardens who want to have a go.
My dads got a temped blagging at the rear door last year, but they decided to take the radio Ariel off the wing. I cannot see the point? but then again some lady garden did whip off the grey connector off the caravan, laugh is you can pick them up for two quid posted!

Be next year now when i start really going into it, got a few plans and i am researching stuff behind the scenes.

well its been nearly best part of a year now since I was on here, and I thought id pop on to say Hi,
I am still loving the defender, and have really gotten into it! Its changed a little over the past few months, I have been working on ironing out the little things 1st and starting to look at bigger things now.
The Hdi flew through her test as normal and will be getting her oil changed soon, sadly looks like this place has really dried up! I have missed anything? Toms306, JJ, The liam and piggy still about ?

Tom has started to live a real life so i hear, JJ disapeared into the wilderness, Liam is busy with family life and Piggy finally admitted that he loves gay porn and can't drag himself away from his PC . . . other than that, i'm stilll here and things are fairly normal Big Grin

Nice to hear tom finally got him self on track, I am surprised about JJ bailing out on here, Didn't Liam vanish last year? Did piggy sell his tooled up 306?  matt you will never leave here, you are part of the fixture and fittings.

good to hear that toms doing well sounds like he really has pulled him self together now.
Anyway lads take care of your selves, keep pushing the 306 forwards, Also for the record, the lads at work have been admiring my 306, couple of them have been saying how a rare sight these are now to see on the roads. Which I have heard with the rover metro, but I wouldn't have expected to hear people say the same thing about the 306.
Do try and keep as many on the road as possible though, even though I am no longer an active member now, I still do love mine to bits!

12 years for me in the scene, started life with the phase 1 D Turbo, then onto the HDI. Which I have had now for 10 years, and that was the last decent car I have bought until the defender. Which is why I still kept it as its a very, very good car. If I could trailer her, I would take it on holiday and use the defender as a camper with a tent etc.
Also lads feel free to add me on facebook, I know matt has added me. If cannot then send me a message on who you are on the forum and I will add you.

The midlands must just have a massive proportion of the UK's 306s still on the road or something because I see them everywhere!
This post is an artistic work of fiction and falsehood. Only a fool would take anything posted above as fact.

Me and my mate are the only two lads in the company that still have cars on the old reg system.

I was pulled a few weeks ago when i was going on to night shift. The officer was checking on who i was and where it was going. He said its a routine check on these due to them been nicked, i was followed a few times by the police, before when coming back from back shift. So it was only a matter of time, plus my dads had broken down on the main motorway and the officer who sorted him out knew where it was from too, So looks like the police are getting to know the defenders and their owners.
It has changed since it was posted on here mainly cosmetic though.

This is really coming a long now, just starting to get into the good stuff, a few question marks have been raised on how its been looked after in the past. Due to some of the things that we have found, and have been corrected.
