without wanting to sound too much like tom... but the rotational mass drop of 24kgs would more than likely have a noticable effect on urban mpgs....

Dunno how I missed this before.....but yeah heavier wheels do make a noticeable difference to mpg as well as performance. Lost count of the number of wheels I've had now lol, but I still remember first time I changed from the 13s to clones on my ph2, lost about 3mpg over the tank and was much slower pulling away! Worth it though.....I think.

But even now, on the HDi, there's a noticeable performance difference between the swallows and the cyclones....but swallows just aren't cool haha. Probably doesn't.make so much difference on more powerful engines though, was no change between 15 avus's and 16" monty 2s on the golf, except slightly better cornering as I got rid of the balloon tyres lol.
