Knocking sound - kentiiboii - 23-10-2014

I've got a knocking sound on the gti6 coming from drivers side front.
when I got the car I changed a lot of the front suspension/steering components and since the knock I've changed more but I still haven't cured it.

Here's a list of what's new...
Strut top/bearings
Wheel bearings
Drop links
Arb bushes
Track rods
Track rod ends
Wishbone with new bushes and ball joint

I still haven't cured the issue though and now I'm lost. Undecided

It's knocks when I pull off, stop, steer and sometimes going over bumps...

Could it be engine mounts?

RE: Knocking sound - kentiiboii - 23-10-2014

All engine mounts have been replaced with baker bm solid mounts

Just an idea although I no doubt bet you've checked. I had a random knock/rattle issue from caliper being able to move the tiniest bit in the caliper/pad cradle. Just a random idea. Otherwise I'd struggle to think what else would cause it unless some major component :/

RE: Knocking sound - Eeyore - 23-10-2014

In my experience either its P Bushes, or the nuts on the top of the strut in the mount. Did you threadlock them?

RE: Knocking sound - cully - 23-10-2014

ARB clamp on the P bush bolt not located in the chassis slot letting the ARB bounce and knock

RE: Knocking sound - Eeyore - 23-10-2014

ah yes cully! that sounds like a good one too!

Could be I know this has happened before when I very first out it on the road, but iirc I did check it when I did track rod yesterday. Will double check though.

Don't think it's the nuts as I've double checked them. Plus I've had new strut tops as I thought they was the original cause.
few of us are thinking maybe pbushes. Even though they only done 3k miles.
Anyone got part number for oem partner bushes?

I've checked the Arb there seems to be no movement what so ever. Even with the drop links off I couldn't move it.

RE: Knocking sound - Eeyore - 23-10-2014

Im not sure the pbushes would be ruined after 3k :/ As you say... it is an odd one!

RE: Knocking sound - Toms306 - 23-10-2014

Are your small P bush bolts still there? After Sam lost one I did as well. Confused

RE: Knocking sound - Eeyore - 23-10-2014

yes check all your pbush bolts! D:

RE: Knocking sound - kentiiboii - 23-10-2014

Could be the pbush bolts, we've just been looking at deggs car tonight and he's lost one of his bolts too...
