My new bus... - Dave - 11-10-2014

So thought was about time I got a set of wheels over here in Australia.

Few conditions really, I cant tune it (girlfriends aswell Sad )

Needed to be reliable,
cheap for parts,
economical,
common (so cheap to buy/fix)
and have mot&tax (equivalent of is Roadworthy Cert and Rego)

Cars in Australia are fairly expensive, as they dont rust out so they hold their value.

I have failed really on the whole car with dignity tbh, after driving the twin turbo 3 door derv wagon Sad

Fail points;
  • Petrol
  • Automatic
  • Girly Maroon
  • Nasp

Win aspects are its a wagon, so its fairly ok in that respect :p can sleep in it and fit everything I need in.

Anyway, pics of this fail bus see attached. It was $2200 which is cheap for this, Fresh MOT and 6 months tax. Half a tank of juice, and only 220,000km on it... which over here is nothing (It takes 800km to go to the nearest shop 99% motorway)
Its all very virgin tight haha

Fuel is $1.30 here though, so 70p a litre! Big Grin

Air con is also amaing

I'd still rather be down under driving that than in this country driving anything mate...

I would go ute all the way tho!

RE: My new bus... - Toms306 - 11-10-2014

Didn't realise fuel was so cheap over there!!

V6? Very relaxing to drive, these, but damn they're underwhelming lol.

It's scary how cheap the fuel is everywhere other than the UK. I'm in the USA this week and had the obligatory minivan over the weekend and when I took it back yesterday I had to top it up - $11 !!!! Ridiculous. It's under $3 a gallon here.

Only a 4pot poodle, got it for the efficiency tbh, its not a supercar so went for a small block.

Trusty mate, having worked for Toyota I am obligated to say I love it.

Don't suppose the Aussie version is RWD?

So you've gone and bought a purple, petrol, automatic.

NIIIICE!

Strap a blower to it, yeh?

Wise colour choice. All the cool kids have purple cars.

GM ftw

Efficiency from a 2.0 petty auto bus, that says everything about the range you've got to work with over there lol. A mate at work has got the 2.5 v6, quite surprised at how good it is on fuel actually, he gets about 35mpg from it.

LOL Darren, that's a nasty cough you've got there, let's hope it's infectious. Wink
